Oh, it's purely for entertainment value only. There's no way that they will allow reason to invade their cemented mindsets. I remember back in 2008 having a conversation with a neighbor about the election. Her sole issue was in support of same-sex marriage. She said that it was the only thing she cared about, and that her vote would be decided by that issue alone. I then proceeded to explain to her each candidate's position on same-sex marriage. I showed her the debate at Saddleback Church where candidate Obama said that he opposed same-sex marriage while candidate McCain said that he supported letting states establish their own laws regarding same sex marriage. Basically, I showed her that McCain was more supportive of her sole core issue than was Obama.
Care to guess who she voted for? (Hint: Both she and her husband drive SUVs - one of which she uses to drive the 75-ft distance from her garage to the top of her driveway in order to retrieve her mail. Yet she lectures me in my 40-mpg compact about global warming.)
