Yes, I remember now...very far “ahead of his times” in the gay area. He wasn’t gay himself, IIRC, but I guess he knew where the money could be found.
True. I looked him up for his current opinions, since it’s been a long time since I lived there. But I guess I just remembered some of his flakier moments...wasn’t he the one with the bizarre radio phone call from the shower?
No, that was Frank Jordan.
It was truly a weird auto-destruct, IIRC!
He has been on a California competitiveness thing. I.e., he is one of the few in Sacramento actually trying to change things so as to keep businesses from relocating out of state.
He hasn’t gotten anywhere on that that I have heard.
In SF he was consistently for business focused stuff, like simplifying bureaucracy and getting building permits approved. He did do some good in that respect. He is a business owner himself.
Frank Jordan was a lousy politician but a good guy and a fine mayor.
