Officials from the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency are warning riders to expect major delays on Muni Monday morning after a contract dispute prompted a “sickout” by a large portion of Muni workers. […]

Muni operators voted on Friday on a proposed labor agreement, but that does not mean that the contract will be ratified. […]

Under the proposal, Muni operator’s pay would be raised to about $32 an hour on July 1—making them the second-highest paid transit workers in the country, according to the SFMTA. …

Apparently SF has its own law similar to New York State’s “Taylor Act”, prohibiting public sector union workers from striking, so they all called in sick instead. Stunts like this turn the public against them, even the most hardcore of lefties.

My attitude is that if you get a government *paycheck* (not to be confused with a social security check) and you’re not a uniformed member of the Armed Forces you’re probably a Maoist parasite hack.

DH and I were in Walnut Creek last year when the BART strike was on - the second one and we were also there for the first as well! Parking is atrocious in SF so we use the BART to get over to the other side of the bay whenever possible.

Daughter works in SF but boss said she could work from home, her roommate, however HAD to show up. She got dropped off at the farrey at something like 4 am — with a mass of other people already waiting. It was a nightmare and the roads around the city were jammed, it certainly put a dent in our plans.

We ended up leaving early.

Or to run a trolley or cable car.

Most of the inner-city buses in SF are trolley-buses too, operating on electric wires.

There is nothing wrong with San Francisco that wouldn’t be solved by an 8.7 quake

Please,I live here.
That would be like wishing hurricanes on Fl.
I just elect to not visit SF or spend any money there, besides the public transportation is deplorable and let them raise the pay and slide into their own tax oblivion.
Who cares.
