My sister-in-law has a lesbian aunt. She’s about 50 and has been with the same partner for 25 years. They’ve adopted 2 children with Downs Syndrome. They’ve given those children a rich and fulfilling life. Sorry, I can’t condemn them. The vast majority of Freepers I’m sure think those women are headed for the lake of fire. Sorry, but I just can’t believe a just god would do that.
I don’t think your relatives are headed for Hades. How would I know that? But I also don’t think they should have been allowed to adopt children—not as a couple, certainly. I can tell horror stories of kids I have known who were deliberately deprived of a mother or a father so a gay couple could pretend to be their parents, but it’s not stories (horror or otherwise) that matter. It’s a way of being reared that Nature and Nature’s God designed for all of us, and it’s wrong to deprive children of it in the name of a social experiment.
God bless her for giving these Down's Syndrome kids a chance in life. People are not exactly lining up to adopt kids with Down's.
They are not, however, the norm and should not be legislated as the norm. Something like 80% of all heterosexual women and 70% of all heterosexual men are faithfully monogamous.
Amount homosexuals, these figures drop to around 6% for women and 3% for men. I'm glad your sil's aunt is in the 6% and has worthwhile things on her mind like giving Down's kids a real chance in life. She sounds like a giving unselfish person.
Most homosexuals priorities, however, are located well below the waist.
Thanks for the nice post. I have gay friends who adopted a third world orphan, and he is loved, and has a much better life than he would have. If there were extra married (M-F) couples who didn’t get to adopt, then I’d be against it.
But kids need all the love they can get, and there’s no more reason to believe that a gay father would sexually abuse his son than a straight father would sexually abuse his daughter.
It's not what anyone thinks or believes. It's what Scripture clearly says about lesbians and homosexuals. It's a sin, and unless one comes to Christ and repents of that sin, the destination is clear.
" Sorry, but I just cant believe a just god would do that."
Well, again, you can create a god of your own understanding, give him the attributes you think he should have, but that's self-delusion. It has no basis in reality. God is completely just, loving, and holy, but folks tend to gloss over that last one. No unrepented sin can or will exist in the presence of His holiness. And no works, including adoption, can get you into heaven. If that were possible, Jesus's suffering on the Cross would have been unnecessary.
The gay men that I know are predators. In their eyes, the younger the male is the better. Your sister in law's aunt may be nice but as far as gay males go, I wouldn't trust them with boys. And what I've seen in the papers these last few years, I wouldn't trust lesbians either, especially if they are teachers.
