Barack Obama broke a federal law that he signed just six months ago when he authorized the release of five high-ranking Taliban terror targets from the Guantanamo Bay detention center in exchange for the return of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, senior congressional Republicans claimed today.
And the president may also have written a new chapter in the case for his own impeachment, according to a former federal prosecutor who helped bring the 1993 World Trade Center bombers to justice.
'The return of senior terrorists to the Taliban [is] ... a "high crime and misdemeanor",' author Andrew C. McCarthy told MailOnline.
His book 'Faithless Execution: Building the case for Obama's impeachment,' is set to be published Tuesday.

Special forces did not rescue this pos. He was turned over to them. Alledgedly. I have my doubts. Obama just wants the words “special forces” in the announcement so he can claim he acted as CIC.
Incredible that he supposedly didn't expect people to be upset. Personally, I think he didn't give a darn; after all, he's the king and he don't need no stinkin' laws to tell him what to do.
BTW, "rescue" is somewhat of an overstatement. The SF were sent to pick him up from the Taliban, which isn't exactly the same thing.
Obama’s release of high ranking Taliban isn't merely impeachable, it is treasonous.
If the pubbie calculus determines the political downside to them of impeachment outweighs any upside in an election year, they can kiss the conservative vote away forever.

Obama just feels that the punishment for breaking this law is nowhere near as serious as the punishment for treason he might get if Al Qaeda squeals on him.
