U.S. concluded in 2010 that Bergdahl walked away (It's true)

A Pentagon investigation concluded in 2010 that Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl walked away from his unit, and after an initial flurry of searching the military decided not to exert extraordinary efforts to rescue him, according to a former senior defense official who was involved in the matter.

Instead, the U.S. government pursued negotiations to get him back over the following five years of his captivity — a track that led to his release over the weekend.

Bergdahl was being checked and treated Monday at a U.S. military hospital in Germany as questions mounted at home over the swap that resulted in his freedom in exchange for the release of five detainees who were sent to Qatar from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo, Cuba.

Even in the first hours of Bergdahl's handoff to U.S. special forces in eastern Afghanistan, it was clear this would not be an uncomplicated yellow-ribbon celebration. Five terrorist suspects also walked free, stirring a debate over whether the exchange would heighten the risk of other Americans being snatched as bargaining chips and whether the released detainees — several senior Taliban figures among them — would find their way back to the fight.

In an article Monday on the Daily Beast website that Bergdahl was not on patrol, as some reports have suggested.

“There was no patrol that night,” he wrote. “Bergdahl was relieved from guard duty, and instead of going to sleep, he fled the outpost on foot. He deserted. I’ve talked to members of Bergdahl’s platoon_including the last Americans to see him before his capture. I’ve reviewed the relevant documents. That’s what happened.”

What, oh what will he do to remain relevant?

The president, as commander in chief, has sole authority to order the launch of nuclear weapons.

Two officials said Monday that the Taliban may have been concerned about his health, as well, since the U.S. had sent the message that it would respond harshly if any harm befell him in captivity.

Yea, so concerned that they held out for five of the most virulent enemies America has.

Where's my comment? Ah, here it is!

I’ve gotta admit, I was surprised at the boldness of trotting Rice out on the Sunday talk shows to discuss this given her past on Middle-Eastern-Issues-on-Sunday-Talk-Shows...

i.e. Benghazi.

Are we supposed to think she’s a credible spokesperson? Anything she says should automatically be assumed to be the opposite.

***Boldness? Sure but I’d say more like arrogance, in your face taunting. They’ll keep pushing because the media carries their water & GOP afraid to be called racists. Whomever thought this would get the VA scandal out of the limelight is sadly mistaken. This “swap” stinks to high heaven.

Howie Carr and Col. David Hunt of Fox had an interesting radio program this past afternoon. One of the guys who went looking for Bergdahl called in.

Of course I'm sure we all realize that we may never find out what really happened to Bergdahl and why he left the base. The circumstances surrounding his release are beginning to make Mr. Obama look bad in the public's eyes.

Heck ... He has already been deemed by the President to have performed "Honorable Service" to this country. My guess is that Mr. Bergdahl is about to suffer some kind of medical complication and will be unable to reveal his side of the story. Either permanently or for at the very least until after the Mid-term elections.

I think this guy is not just a deserter, He’s an operative. He is now a muslim and is at war with the U.S. Along with Obamas help they helped get 5 major figures for the Taliban freed to re-enter a war against the U.S.

They’ll claim he was a CIA operative working undercover...

And that it is all classified so they can’t say anymore...

So don’t ask anymore questions...

Col. David Hunt on BOR’s just said that this worthless deserter cost the lives of 14 brave soldiers sent out to search for him.

Sickening.

Col. David Hood stated that Bergdahl called the base on a cell phone a day or so after he left and TOLD them he deserted! Also, he stated that there have been 14 American’s killed while looking for this POS.

Correction. It’s Col. David Hunt. Not Hood.

He also mailed his uniform home and left his rifle behind before leaving, so he clearly was not “on patrol.” But obviously, the Taliban wasn’t going to say, oh, see, he just walked up and joined us...cool!
