I have a friend who is a bird-colonel chaplain. He likes Marines, but think they’re “a bit off”. He was telling a story of a friend of his who had a son who’d just graduated from Marine boot camp. He was visiting home on leave and was invited to attend a ‘thanks to the troops’ event on post by my friend. In the ceremony, each service’s song was played. When the Marine Corps Hymn began, this kid shot to rigid attention and stayed that way.

My chaplain friend’s wife commented “Gee...you could snap him in half. Will he ever relax?” My friend said, “Yes...when he’s dead. They’re trained that way.”

Yes...he does have great respect for them.
