Treasurer and Attorney General are write ins for Republicans in Iowa? Why is that? Are these guarantee wins for Democrats?

Apparently no GOP filed in either race. They have been
voting absentee ballots since Apr. 24, 2014.

From the SOS web site election schedule

Thursday, April 24

First day to vote in-person by absentee ballot at county auditor’s office

Filing deadline is mid-March. If you don’t get enough signatures by then and turn them in, you don’t get to make the primary ballot.

However, you can be conventioned in after the primary, to be sure no one else gets 35% of the last primary vote. Our state convention is in 10 days so it will be handled then.
