However, if you are a public employee, you have no choice whatsoever. I just don’t see ANY way that this could be considered fair.

Exactly! In the private sector, one company may screw over their employees, and having the option to work for a similar company that has a union to protect them, makes sense (in theory)!

But, in public sector work, their is no job so specialized (except the DOD), that you would need a union to "protect you" from unfair competition! There is NO competition for public sector jobs - there is only ONE government! Each city, county, and state (even the Federal government) has only ONE government. So, why are they allowed to unionize?

So that Democrats can get subsidized! So that politicians can negotiate with OUR money, benefits, pay rates, and JOB SECURITY which cannot change without too much red tape and too much trouble and too much COST! They are designed to FORCE the taxpayer to pay and pay and pay - PERIOD!

ALL public sector unions should be SHUTDOWN! PERIOD!

Bump that! Even FDR, the patron saint of the American labor movement, knows that ....

All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations ... The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for ... officials ... to bind the employer ... The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives ...

Agree... public sector unions are implicitly “the employer” (gov’t) and the “employees” (union) negotiating against a third party (taxpayer) without their consent.
