That’s what I actually do. I also use my phone for music through the PA during breaks when my bands are gigging. If you don’t, the music can get interrupted by a phone call. :-P

But flight attendants won’t even accept that. It has to be OFF as far as they are concerned. When they see my ear buds, I just tell them I’m using them as a sound supressor.

Those flight attendants are sneaky. They don’t stop checking until just before the pilot puts the pedal to the metal.
