Harry Reid knew of Bowe Bergdahl deal before release

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid received a heads-up on the deal to transfer Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in exchange for the five Taliban officials detained in Guantanamo Bay — but it’s not clear who else did.

In a brief interview, Reid said the White House contacted him ahead of the swap — but not by much.

“It must have been either the day before or the day of. I don’t remember for sure,” Reid said.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) declined to comment when asked about White House outreach with regards to Bergdahl.

Reid’s remarks underscore a growing divide on Capitol Hill over how the White House handled the situation, which will begin to be hashed out by the Senate Intelligence Committee behind closed doors on Tuesday. A classified briefing on Bergdahl has been arranged for senators on Tuesday afternoon to pepper top administration intelligence officials about how the swap went down — and why Congress was left largely in the dark.

The Senate Armed Services Committee will hold a similar briefing June 10 — though Republicans are pushing for an open hearing as well. House Armed Services Chairman Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) has vowed to hold hearings on the Bergdahl exchange.

We could trade Harry for a steaming Taliturd, but it wouldn’t be a fair trade.

“It must have been either the day before or the day of. I don’t remember for sure,” Reid said."

I'd say the odds are better than 50/50 that Reid is lying to give cover to Obama for the "I consulted Congress" claim. First the White House said they didn't consult Congress because of Bergdahl's health, now they say they DID consult Congress. What will they say tomorrow?

“Obama paid”

backwards? think about all of the excess heroin money and the fact that china is no longer accepting us dollars from afghanistan. For fun, you could make a list of who was cut in and who was not.

Probably best to wait a week to see what the real story is.

In a week this will be "old news" and not worth even mentioning. Besides, in a week's time we will have uncovered at least 3 more new scandals which will briefly hold our attention.

“It could turn out that Mitch was “briefed” and never told his caucus.”

Could also be Mitch doesn’t know and rather than say something and have the MSM blame republicans, better to say nothing.

Dude, it was, like, 3 days ago. “

First the White House said they didn't consult Congress because of Bergdahl's health...

I thought that first they said they didn't have to because Obama said so in a signing statement when he signed some bill a few years ago.

I know, it's hard to keep all these stories straight. Dude, that was like 24 hours ago.

McConnell and Cornyn were notified

There will be no confirmation of this fact until after the mid-terms, if at all...

This was just an excuse for O’bastard to say...

“Well, the worst of the terrorists have now left GITMO, I’m releasing the rest and closing it.”

The Taliban Gitmo contingent will kill Americans and the dictator shall not be criticized for it because his father had dark skin.
