BOSTON (AP) A bomb threat charge has been dropped against a man accused of placing a backpack with a rice cooker near the Boston Marathon finish line on the anniversary of last years deadly bombing.
Suffolk County district attorneys spokesman Jake Wark said Tuesday the state could not prove Kevin Edson communicated a clear threat with an explosive device.

Kevin (”Kayvon”, he called himself) raised a ruckus when he dressed weirdly and walked barefoot up to this year’s finish line and left a bag with a pressure cooker in it, saying “Boston Strong” in an effeminate voice. Hey, it’s just perfomance art, why the big deal... as a friend of mine said on Twitter ‘I would have like to see him survive in prison’.
Maybe someone shouldn’t be prosecuted for bad taste but given the time and the place and the tight security...

In diverting attention from actual threats, he was probably technically guilty of some form of “obstructing” law enforcement or official duty.
