Appearing on the Today Show this morning, Chuck Todd reports that, in response to allegations of possible desertion by Bowe Bergdahl, White House sources are accusing the soldiers that served with him of "swift boating." Prior to the allegations made by those who served with Bergdahl, White House national security advisor Susan Rice had said Bergdahl served with "Honor and distinction." From the transcript of the Today Show:
Every [White House] aide I've talked to said they expected there to be controversy involving the decision to release five members of the taliban from gitmo, and the fact that this would then escalate that debate, which has been simmering for a good five years, which is what to do with those detainees, how do you release them, where do you release them. They did not expect this backlash on bergdahl himself. I've had a few aides describe it to me as we didn't know that they were going to swift boat Bergdahl. And that's a reference to that political fight back in 2004 over john kerry's military service, so there's some fighting words there.

“Swift Boating”, is just an attempt to muddy the waters with a propaganda buzz word. With six dead soldiers this is way past a problematical third purple heart. I almost feel sorry for Kerry, if they go this route he is going to get splashed with bergdoll pooh up to his neck. Apples and oranges have more similariries.

Its not swift boating. At least not yet. That will happen when he is the Democrat Presidential nominee, bragging about his stellar military service. Long after,of course, he uses his anti-US credentials to get elected to the Senate representing some ultra-liberal state.

“Swift Boating” is when you turn and RUN from an enemy attack (in a time of war), leaving your “buddies” to fend for themselves. In other words... TREASON, punishable by death.
899. Art. 99. Misbehavior before the enemy
Any member of the armed forces who before or in the presence of the enemy- (1) runs away; (2) shamefully abandons, surrenders, or delivers up any command, unit, place, or military property which it is his duty to defend; (3) through disobedience, neglect, or intentional misconduct endangers the safety of any such command, unit, place, or military property; (4) casts away his arms or ammunition; (5) is guilty of cowardly conduct; (6) quits his place of duty to plunder or pillage; (7) causes false alarms in any command, unit, or place under control of the armed forces; (8) willfully fails to do his utmost to encounter, engage, capture, or destroy any enemy troops, combatants, vessels, aircraft, or any other thing, which it is his duty so to encounter, engage, capture, or destroy; or (9) does not afford all practicable relief and assistance to any troops, combatants, vessels, or aircraft of the armed forces belonging to the United States or their allies when engaged in battle;
shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct.
This guy is even worse! He ran TO the enemy, (in a time of war), and became a TRAITOR. Switching sides in a war is TREASON, punishable by death.
In the United States, the punishment for treason is set forth in Title 18, USC § 2381:
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
William Blackstone in his Commentaries observed that the punishment for treason is
“terrible in that the traitor is hanged by the neck, then cut down alive, that his entrails are then taken out, and burned, while he is yet alive,” and “that his head is cut off, and that his body is then divided into four parts.”
Works for me!
They don't seem to be having the desired effect, do they? I hope someone is compiling a list of every one of the troops who is coming forward to speak truth.
