You have to plan protection for 360 degrees. That means that EVERY rifle is critical. The enemy doesn’t want to charge directly into your weapons fire, so they watch and probe to find a place where they can sneak in. Once they have snuck into the American defensive position, they can go around shooting American Soldiers in the back because the American Soldiers are oriented OUTWARDS. The enemy would be BEHIND them because Bergdahl abandoned his post.
That’s why the Soldiers are angry. Bergdahl, in a combat zone, walked off and left them open to slaughter.
