Phooey?

Your reference in one of your first posts was unclear and you’ve done nothing to make your meaning clearer.

I’m dropping this and going elsewhere.

Hey Viennacon!

You and Hoodat did a lot of hard work last night on the tread.
And your predictions were very accurate.

McDaniel beats Cochroach in votes. Even the crossover RAT votes
and ginned up ballots in Hinds County wasn’t enough.

Last nights thread was as great as the Texas thread!

“Well the GOP should at least be happy there is a tea party republican in the senate instead of a democrat.”

The truth is the GOP elite always prefers a democrat to a tea party republican.

Looks like Boss Hogg(Haley Barbour) and his clan could not gin up enough votes in Hinds County to overtake McDaniel

Should pay closer attention to their Democrat friends. Dems would have wrapped up their victory last night.

For this runoff (as for any other future federal office runoffs), Mississippi is using “ranked choice ballots” for overseas and out-of-state military voters to use. See details in the linked article. Our military voters need to clearly understand that they received those “if needed” runoff ballots at the same time they got their primary ballot.

If they have not completed and returned that “2nd (if needed runoff) ballot” it along with their primary ballot they need to complete it and mail it back NOW.

Be sure to remind all your military and overseas constitutional conservative Mississippians about this. THESE MILITARY AND OVERSEAS VOTERS WILL NOT BE RECEIVING ANOTHER “RUN OFF” BALLOT - THEY MUST USE THE 2ND BALLOT (RANKED VOTING) THEY RECEIVED IN THE SAME MAILING AS THEIR PRIMARY BALLOT. I don’t know for sure but even if they didn’t mail their primary ballot back, they likely could still return their 2nd “ranked voting” ballot and it would count in the runoff.

Well, I was pessimistic to begin with. We started ahead then dropped back to that familiar 47% territory... but over time, Cochran dropped and McDaniel rose. Very happy to have a victory under our belt. I just wish Cochran would drop out now. He didn’t even show up yesterday to thank his supporters for crying out loud.

It is much easier to work deals and grand bargains with RATs than men of principal.

I'm wondering if McConnell will use the coal attacks to beat Grimes

Tit for tat. Didn't McConnell have to cave after some handouts so Obama could get his way with the budget in the Senate?

He knows he doesn’t stand a chance. He got at least 20,000 Democrat crossover votes. There is no reason for them to go to the polls twice. McDaniel starts ahead by 5-10% points.

Of course. “Some pundit said”, means we’ll believe it if we see it.

Onward to victory. My prediction is Cochran refuses to debate as media calls grow louder. He loses credibility, and then loses the runoff by 8 points.

Unless the Dems pile on to vote in the Repub primary.

I am beginning to think there is a “Health Reason” Cochran is not showing
up at his victory party or willing to debate or willing to sit down with media
for a question and answer session.
Something is going on with Cochran and his campaign is hiding him.

Even today, Cochran did not announce in a press conference that is
is going to fight for Mississippi. His campaign released a “press statement”.
His campaign is hiding him.

Unless the Dems pile on to vote in the Repub primary.

Only those who voted in yesterday's Republican primary can vote in the run-off.

To Mississippians:

Would the Carey voters tend to go for Cochran or or McDaniel in the run-off?

It looks like McDaniel only needed 1702 more votes to attain the magic 50%+1.

I think more than 8, but less than 16. If I understand the process, the Democrats that voted in the primary can still vote the run-off. Cochran will hold them or they’ll stay home. Once Cochran’s personal life gets a bigger story and he refuses to debate or debates and gets creamed the vote total will drop like a stone.

Don’t wait too long. Somebody other than the campaign needs to start calling for debates right now. Force these two to distinguish themselves.

The general pattern in Texas for runoffs is that a strong tea party candidate has a better chance of winning because the tea party voters are more tenacious in showing up to vote. Runoffs typically have low voter turnout. Texas had only about 3.5 percent turnout. If Senator John Cornyn had a viable opponent and had been forced into a runoff, he would have lost.
