So why did they not kill him? Behead him?

They didn’t kill him b/c he was one of them. They didn’t know we’d bargain for him five years later. They typically kill any potential prisoners more or less immediately. I saw it a few times in Iraq, and we’re dealing with much the same kind of people in Afghanistan even if the cultural specifics are different.

After watching the video...that’s an understatement...
this is misleading all the way around.
It’s attributed to Fox, so we expect a sensible interview, instead we get Wolf Blitzer pummeling leading questions. He doesn’t want to hear anything negative about BO’s precious Taliban, and he does that annoying attribution of our values onto the Taliban.
why would these guys, handing over a collaborator in exchange for five of their generals, be treating us with any kind of respect.
The SEAL is trying to get that across to Wolf who isn’t having any of it. CNN’s viewers are not allowed to think that BO is surrendering, and that that is why the war is over

And it doesn’t say anything, certainly not about the title.
And they may have gotten a few million dollars as well.
I’m sure that was part of it, but that still isn’t enough to save his life upon first contact. According to the other guys in his platoon, he’d been learning Pashto before they deployed. It’s not unreasonable to assume he communicated to Taliban fighters his intention to leave the U.S. Army and help the Taliban kill Americans. The haji butt sex is just a fringe benefit for all involved.

Well, the annoying thing about the piece is Wolfie, whom I never suffer to watch.
He is like an old aunt who is asking a lot of questions, but can’t handle the truth, so is not listening to nor processing one word, and is off in dementia land where nothing bad can happen, and bad decisions are only made by the in-laws (republicans), never the precious (BO)

You could practically hear the alarm bells going off in Blitzer’s head: “Warning: homosexuals in the audience will be offended! Must question or change subject quickly! Warning!”
He’s stammering about how the Taliban are just like us, and they respect us, changing the subject.
