Federal double standard on endangered species laws?

The federal government is not shy about prosecuting those who violate threatened and endangered species laws. But under a new Obama administration policy, wind farm operators are getting 30-year permits to kill protected species.

The government fined marine biologist Nancy Black $12,000 and sentenced her to three years probation for feeding a whale in Monterey Bay.

Just last month, US Fish and Wildlife cited 26-year- old tree trimmer Ernesto Pulido for violating the 1918 Migratory Bird Treaty Act for disturbing a nest of herons. Pulido was hired by the U.S. Postal Service to rid their parking lot in Oakland, Calif. of the birds and the droppings they left behind.

...Yet contrast their treatment to that of the wind industry.

Under a new Obama administration policy, wind farm operators are getting 30-year permits to kill protected species.

The new renewable energy policy gives wind farm operators 30-year permits - up from the current 5 years - to kill a specific number of protected species without threat of prosecution.

"What they are doing is ignoring the law," said Bob Johns of the American Bird Conservancy. "The oil and gas industry for example, they have to abide by these laws. They're not killing bald and golden eagles. And if they are, they're going to be prosecuted for it."

Someone once compared the Federal Government to a Pharaoh:

1. Of these beasts, Pharaoh decrees that none shalt not be slain.
2. Of these beasts, Pharaoh decrees that some shalt be slain only in small numbers.

He who is not in service of Pharaoh who slays that which has been forbidden or partially forbidden shalt suffer terrible punishments. He who is in service to Pharaoh who slays that which has been forbidden or partially forbidden shalt receive pardon without end.

So let it be written.

So let it be done.

Contrast the windmill slaughter with the attempt by Federal Prosecutors to try seven oil companies over 28 total 'protected' bird carcases found in wastewater pits on 7000 oil locations. The investigation utilized vehicles and helicopters to search for violators covering an area some 100 miles by 200 miles. The Feds wanted not only maximum fines, but for people to do jail time, even though the cause of death and how the birds ended up in the pits was not known. Thankfully, the judge threw it out.

At the press conference, though, someone asked about windfarms, and the question was ignored, even though it was asked more than once.

I would draw a parallel with Bergdahl and the rest of the squad, and the wind turbines and the killing of eagles.

According to the Obamites, it is “good” for men to be sacrificed, as it is for eagles, when they are dedicated on the Altar of Obama’s desires of the moment..
