As a side note, I find it touching that so many Luxembourgers still revere the men who lie under that sod, to the degree that they consider it their sacred honor to decorate the graves on memorable occasions. I only hope that we are as diligent in our reverence.

Yes. Good points. Thanks.

The American gravesites in Normandy are kept by local school children. The older generation will not let the children forget the sacrifices that were made for them.

The gravesites are impeccable. There isn’t a blade of grass out of place.

37 I know Gen. Patton was buried in the Third Army Cemetery in Luxembourg originally. But I thought I read somewhere that he was eventually reinterred in the United States. Anyone know anything about that?

5/23/2012 – These Hallowed Grounds (PBS)
video run time = 00:54:40 minutes

This PBS documentary highlights the 24 foreign cemeteries and memorials honoring the sacrifices of the U.S. military on behalf of other nations. After WWII and beginning with the Korean War, the U.S. policy for its war dead changed to where all are brought home to the U.S. In it the narrator said that Patton was originally buried amongst his men, but the locals wore a path in the cemetery to his grave, so his remains were exhumed and re-interred in a site in the same cemetery but apart from his men.

#`18: re IRS will be visiting him soon. Maybe. Health and Human Services Obamacare “Death Panel”, definitely.

Hope he has private insurance and bodyguards.

My father in law is 94 and looks pretty good. Still stands tall as he did as both a Signal Corps soldier (Iwo) and as an officer later in his career.

He does not have kind words for the Traitor in Chief.

There’s a cenotaph at a cemetery in San Gabriel, CA, but according to findagrave.com, he’s buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery.

So? I’m sure this soldier can take care of himself, and many more will stand behind him.

Well, sometimes the hardest things to do, in our service to the country did not involved pulling a trigger...

I think I came across it on Drudgereport. Maybe Matt took it down out of fear of being shutdown by the IRS.

I did post to my twitter account, and I did post the twitchy team about it...

Looking at Drudgereport again, I see it there.

I believe that is where I originally saw it...
