The Second-Largest Religion in Each State
Washington Post ^ | June 4 | Reid Wilson

Posted on 06/06/2014 11:14:32 AM PDT by nickcarraway

Christianity is by far the largest religion in the United States; more than three-quarters of Americans identify as Christians. A little more than half of us identify as Protestants, about 23 percent as Catholic and about 2 percent as Mormon.

But what about the rest of us? In the Western U.S., Buddhists represent the largest non-Christian religious bloc in most states. In 20 states, mostly in the Midwest and South, Islam is the largest non-Christian faith tradition. And in 15 states, mostly in the Northeast, Judaism has the most followers after Christianity. Hindus come in second place in Arizona and Delaware, and there are more practitioners of the Baha’i faith in South Carolina than anyone else.

But (Mormonism) would not ever be confused with Christianity..

Depends on your definition of "Christianity." Which vary from "anybody who considers Christ to be a great moral teacher" (by which definition a lot of Buddhists, Hindus, atheists and Muslims qualify) to "only my particular denomination, and I'm not too sure about most of them." So that's a question that cannot be answered without unilaterally imposing your own definition.

and Joseph Smith never intended it to be..

Here you are flat out inaccurate. Old Joe considered himself to be the restorer of "true Christianity." So it is just inaccurate to say that Joe didn't claim to be a Christian. The same continues to this day for his followers.

You (and I) may of course disagree with him as to whether this belief of his/theirs was/is accurate. But not that he believed, or at any rate claimed to.

Baha’i is syncretistic, an eclectic amalgamation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baha’i

Very interesting, even though several of the maps seem to have been compiled by hand-wringing moonbats.

The percentage of Muslim population in North America is 1.71

http://www.muslimpopulation.com/America/

It’s hard to get absolute figures as most are several years old but in 2011 it was stated that;

There are 2.75 million Muslims living in the United States, a majority of whom, 63 percent, are first-generation immigrants. — Pew Research Center

As of March 2012, the population of the United States was 311,591,917 people.

Bahai are completely anti-Christian. They encapsulate all religions as they interpret them all as being manifestations or emanations of the same truth that will come and be envisioned ultimately in a world religion led by a future messiah/leader which will be the Anti-Christ. It is massive syncretism/ pluralism while advocating for world government and world unification in all areas. They have this in common with new age views also. They would deny every tenet and exclusive belief of orthodox Christianity although they might not admit to it they reinterpret all words and beliefs.

[the royal “we”]

Yep, always about 'him' and we know what he is...

Have you heard his quote on 'sin'?

Obama’s response when asked what his definition of sin is: “Being out of alignment with my values.”

Islam is more than just a ‘religion’, it’s an ideology controlling behavior, lifestyle, government and politics.

When their population reaches a certain mass in a country they begin to make more and more demands. We have already seen this happening.

Quite true. Which is why you are free to believe that Joe was not a Christian.

But not that he didn’t claim to be one.

Hindus come in second place in Arizona and Delaware ...

Who commissioned this study? Joe "In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking" Biden?

How did all those Hindus wind up in Arizona?

I don't know. Maybe they heard Arizona was still Indian Country and didn't understand.

The first Indian-American (i.e South Asian) US Congressman was from Imperial County, California, just across the river. He was a Sikh, though (there's been a Sikh farming community around Yuba City for a long time).

‘Actually, many Muslims come here to get away from other Muslims.’

Muslims come here because the Koran INSTRUCTS THEM TO.

.

THE KORAN PROMISES COUNTRIES TO CONQUER AND THE SPOILS THERIN:

Sura 33 “And he bequeathed to you their lands, their homes and their possessions, together with land you have never trodden” (33.27) .

THAT MEANS THE U.S Allah has bequeathed to the muzzies.

MUSLIMS ARE INSTRUCTED IN THE KORAN TO BE STILL UNTIL THEY HAVE THE NUMBERS IN THE COUNTRIES THEY HAVE INVADED:

“Be patient with unbelievers until you have strength” (86.17).

THE KORAN INSTRUCTS MUSLIMS TO BE DECEPTIVE:
Quran 3:28 Don’t have unbelieving friends unless it is to deceive them. Remember the final goal is to Allah.

SHARIA LAW MUST RULE THE WORLD

Allah’s law (Sharia) is binding to all…4:135

Allah accepts only Sharia and no other laws…7:29, 57:25

Quran 9:33 ISLAM WILL PREVAIL OVER ALL RELIGIONS

THE FOUNDER OF CAIR HAS TOLD US PLAINLY OF ISLAM’S OBJECTIVE IN AMERICA:

“ISLAM ISN’T IN AMERICA TO BE EQUAL TO ANY OTHER FAITH, BUT TO BECOME DOMINANT. The Koran ... should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth. Everthing we need to know is in the Koran. We don’t need to look somewhere else.”

OMAR M. AHMAD, CHAIRMAN OF CAIR, the mainsteam Muslim advocacy group.

Every “moderate” Muslim is a potential terrorist. The belief in Islam is like a tank of gasoline. It looks innocuous, until it meets the fire. For a “moderate” Muslim to become a murderous jihadist, all it takes is a spark of faith.
