The Second-Largest Religion in Each State
Washington Post ^ | June 4 | Reid Wilson

Posted on 06/06/2014 11:14:32 AM PDT by nickcarraway

Christianity is by far the largest religion in the United States; more than three-quarters of Americans identify as Christians. A little more than half of us identify as Protestants, about 23 percent as Catholic and about 2 percent as Mormon.

But what about the rest of us? In the Western U.S., Buddhists represent the largest non-Christian religious bloc in most states. In 20 states, mostly in the Midwest and South, Islam is the largest non-Christian faith tradition. And in 15 states, mostly in the Northeast, Judaism has the most followers after Christianity. Hindus come in second place in Arizona and Delaware, and there are more practitioners of the Baha’i faith in South Carolina than anyone else.

about 2 percent as Mormon.

Mormons are not Christians...

Mormonism is a separate religion with very little to recognize as possible Christianity..

Mormonism is closer to Islam..

In fact since the founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith denounce Christianity, and Christians, and the Bible as false, and wanted to be a “Second Mohammad” and was actually called “the American Mohammad”, Mormonism could be said to be an off shoot of Islam, or a denomination of Islam..

But it would not ever be confused with Christianity..

and Joseph Smith never intended it to be..

How did all those Hindus wind up in Arizona? And the Bahai in SC? Not complaining, just surprised.

Shouldn't protestants be called catholic protestants?
That is what they are protesting, right?

there are more practitioners of the Baha’i faith in South Carolina than anyone else.

Hemingway, South Carolina. Big Baha'i presence. I know next to nothing about the religious belief, but they have a pretty cool radio station and good taste in music. Very strong signal, can pick it up well into NC.

Florida has more muzzies than Jews. What happened to the stereotypes.

Obama quotes;

"Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation.”

“We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation."

Immigration patterns? Read Thomas Sowell, he writes all about it in Race and Culture, among other tomes.

It runs the gamut, from gospel to R&B. I found a current playlist:

we are warned.
we are warned.

Islam teaches the subjugation or killing of Christians/Jews.

it is therefore NOT like any other major “religion”

Protestants, Catholics, Jews, Orthodox, Mormons, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists, Zoroastrians, Unitarians... can all debate beliefs and doctrines galore .... we can all disagree ... BUT NONE of these faith traditions teaches the subjugation and killing of Christians and Jews

Islam does.

We are warned.
Keep bringing them in here and we will wind up like the Christians in Lebanon or Syria or Egypt or Arabia or Iraq or Iran or Kenya or Pakistan or...

living in abject fear or hiding for our lives...

we are warned.

I can't stand Seals and Crofts. I dated a girl who adored them. That didn't last.

We have been warned but is anyone listening?

Far too many have bought into the religion of peace crap, probably because they know a Muslim personally. And can never dream of them wanting to kill.

It’s probably true that most Muslims in this country don’t want to kill anyone, but that doesn’t mean Islam isn’t evil. It just means they aren’t real Muslims.

Heaven help us when the majority of Muslims start realizing the real tenents of their faith and start behaving like such.

“Radio Baha’i” WLGI 90.9 in Hemingway, SC does play good music. I’d call it calming but not dull, nice variety. Popular with tourists up and down the beaches, from southern NC to practically GA. I know nothing about their religious beliefs, but they don’t appear to be anti-Christian from what little exposure I’ve had.

Islam teaches the subjugation or killing of Christians/Jews and any one else who is not a muslim, moreover, anyone who is not of the same Islamic sect.
