I was ready to chime in if TX was on the list. All I know is that when kids transfer into our area from CA, high schoolers are two years behind TX kids.

A visit to my kids' elementary school many years ago started my sister on the path to conservatism. She saw the facilities we had. When she asked the principal at my nephew's school in CA, she received an unsatisfactory and nasty response, i.e. it must be a "white bread" school district.

I prepared her for that, and she responded with "over 50 languages are spoken in that school district, and I saw mostly Koreans, Indians, and Hispanics! And they don't teach Ebonics!"

Within an hour, my nephew was transferred to a charter school.

We have property in WV and visit frequently.

I can confirm it's a dumb state. No one should consider moving there. In fact, you shouldn't even visit the state - the dumbness might rub off. There are bugs and snakes and bears. Nobody has any teeth. You'll have to marry your cousin or a reasonable facsimile that will be assigned to you. Stay away. It's a terrible place!

The state and it's people have no redeeming qualities. Well, except maybe the scenery. And the wildlife. There's also hunting, fishing, hiking, rafting, skiing. Cheap land prices. Low regulation. Restrained and limited law enforcement. Rugged, plain spoken individuals who cling to their independence (and their guns) but will go out of their way to help a stranger. Stars at night. Well, other than all of that, it's hell on earth and there aren't many Starbucks. Only a drooling moron would want to live there...

I’m looking at sending my kids to college in one of the “dumb” states. Maybe they are dumb, but the out-of-state tuition in OK, AL, MS, LA is quite reasonable and, at least on the internet “virtual tour” the facilities look nice. Also, maybe my kids will meet a “dumb” but decent spouse, who likes “dumb” things like patriotism, conservatism, religion, the traditional family, even fishing.
