"Life With Archie" #36 hits stores on July 16, and CNN can reveal exclusively that it tells the story of how Archie sacrifices himself to save a friend.
Few details are known, but it seems fitting that Archie would go out a hero. The 37th issue one week later will end the series.

I heard they introduced a homosexual character into the Archie comics. They have to prove how liberal they are.
I was a big fan of the series many years ago and watched the cartoon as a child. I had always guessed that Archie would marry Betty and get a job teaching at this old alma mater, with Mr. Witherbee and Miss Grundy as his mentor. I don’t blame them for ending the series, which has had a very long run, but it wasn’t necessary to have such a violent end.
Judging from the general direction I’m predicting he’ll die protecting the turd burglar from a bunch of tea partiers bearing pitchforks and torches.
Yep, brings back memories. Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie Mantle, Mr. Weatherbee and Miss Grundy from Riverdale High School.
Not sure why they have to end it with Archie dying. What the heck are they trying to do? Why such an ending?

Obviously Archie sacrifices himself to save the homo from a racist right wing extremist TEA Party member shooting up a homo pride parade with an extremely powerful assault rifle with a high capacity clip full of cop killer bullets.

I never got it, I mean someone must buy Archie comics, but I have never witnessed it with my own eyes. I was always like ‘OK here’s one about teenagers in high school having hijinks but here is a mystic barbarian superhero laser thing, gee which one is going to be awesome?’

As I understand it, they are only ending the “Life with Archie” series, which is a separate comic depicting possible future scenarios for Archie’s life. The standard series, which is the original one, will continue with Archie and the gang. :-D
There already is “After life with Archie” Jughead is a Zombie.
I think Archie should break a hip, get end-of-life counseling under obamacare and choose for the sake of society’s limited resources (of which he has used his share) to take a few pain pills as he shuffles off this mortal coil.

Must be way before my time, but I recall seeing Casper the ghost and Richie Rich in the 80s. Didn’t get those either.
Like if a guy said to me, ‘hey Archie was the best ever but they ruined it with all this lib stuff’ I would be sympathetic I guess but I still wouldn’t get it. It’s like saying ‘hey dude you know what is great entertainment? The jewelry shopping network. But they ruined it when they started having rubies on all the time.’
