BAGHDAD A series of car bombs exploded across Iraqs capital Saturday night, killing at least 52 people in a day of violence that saw militants storm a university in the countrys restive Anbar province and take dozens hostage, authorities said.
The attacks in Baghdad largely focused on Shiite neighborhoods, underscoring the sectarian violence striking at Iraq years after a similar wave nearly tore the country apart after the U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein. With U.S. troops gone, Iraq finds itself fighting on fronts across the country, as separate clashes in the northern city of Mosul left 21 police officers and 38 Sunni militants dead, officials said.

I remember we were told when we went into Iraq that we were going to get rid of Saddam and leave.
That was a lie, we had to go and try to nation build and make those lunatics act like a civil society. What a joke. These heathens need a dictator to keep them in some kind of line. Otherwise they are murdering nutjobs who kill each other as much as they kill westerners.
Their countries all look like dung heaps because they are non productive. Only thing they are good at is killing. Lefties tell themselves it is because they are poor. Nope, they are poor because they are ignorant savages.
Sad that we lost so many good men for that $#!thole.
Isn’t mozlums killing each other a good thing.
It is sad.
It is just another war in which we were not allowed to fight to win.
I meant yet.
I think the White House might have their official response:
#SAVEIRAQINRAHOSTAGES
Quick, send them a few million tax dollars!
Wow, didn’t George Bush do a wonderful thing by invading and “liberating” Iraq? It was worth 4500 American lives and a trillion American dollars wasn’t it!
Correction: It was a war that wasn’t worth it.
What doesn’t “winning” mean in your book? Occupying Iraq forever?
you use the passive voice, “we were told.”
Who told us? Not Obama. George Bush told us. Iraq is his mess. And ours, because we voted him in.
Now, bring on Jeb! I can’t wait for the next Bush. How bout you?
Nation-building is stupid.
Get in, get the baddies, and get out.
Saddam’s brutality is what kept the Islamists down. Now, they’re free to wreak havoc. And Shiites run the government, allied with the Shiites in Iran.
THANKS A MILLION, GEORGE BUSH!
“Get the baddies”
You mean, kill the guy - Saddam - who had his heel on the Islamists’ necks? Yeah, that was real smart.
We should have left once we toppled Sadaam’s regime.
Well, the reason there’s a mess now is because we toppled Saddam’s regime. He had these Islamists under his boot.. We killed him - and that freed them.
Just wait until Iran gets nukes...
you have a warped memory of history..When the Iraq war was approved by congress, virtually every intelligence agence in the world determined that Hussein waas in control of "weapons of mass destruction" all suspected that he had nuclear weapons....he certainly had gas weapons because he had used them against the Kurds. We acted on that assumption andthe results are known. Had he used a nuclear weapon and we hadn't acted, would your opinion be the same???Hussein is gone, unfortunately, the people in that area are so lost in the eighth century that I fear they will remain virtually worthless for another generation or so. Until the young peopple wake up and reclaim their own future...they are lost.
I think Israel will be the first to have a Nuke pointed at them - Iraq a close second.
We should have wiped out Saddam and everything connected to him and left. No apologies, no rebuilding no nothing other than stating plainly, don't make us come back.
Iran and other would have understood that.
Actually it would have been if we had done that and just left.
Trying to keep the peace and nation build is what cost so many lives and treasure.
Shock and awe and gone. Every two bit dictator would have been scared shitless that they were next in line for the treatment. Instead we went nation building.
In short we tried to get them to love us when we simply should have had them fear us.
