"So I see the word "Responsibility" does not enter his brain.... If you take out the debit, you should have to pay it off. No one forced kids to take on the debt, they could have gone a few years at a community college to get the credits and then transfer so they would not rake up such debit"

The Student Loan issue is a loser for Obama and the regular folks who did not go to college will hate him for forgiving student loans. This could be a big issue in the 2014 Elections.

He’s gonna go around Congress again to change Student Loan repayments on what authority? We are talking billions, maybe trillions of dollars.

This guy will absolutely break this country financially.

Anyone who paid one centavo for their education seeing this happen should storm the white house and pull that jackass eared marxist out of there and make him go to work to pay off all the over due loans. I paid cash for my education, I worked while commuting to college and I strongly resent anyone getting a free ride on my dime now.

Look at it this way, all those professors and administrators for the most part support the dem party. So, these inflated college costs go to them and when the loans are forgiven the money has been laundered right back into dem coffers.

Imagine my surprise when I received my twice weekly spam email fro. Senator Party “doofus” Murray ghe other day.

The subject line was “Crushing Debt”

For a brief instant I was completely confused as to why the little person cum Senator from Shoreline Washington had suddenly begun caring about our national debt.

Alas...it was just an email pimping studs loan forgiveness and calling it refinancing.....apparently someone noticed that 12-27-10k in student loan debt for a degree in therapeutic poetry is tough to pay off and if the commies in charge wave the magic Obama stash wand they can viola some future votes...abracadabra ala kazam.....ala peanut butter sandwhiches.

My kid's college had an Official College Arborist. Very pretty campus -- but, please -- A "Dean of Trees"? One thing is absolutely certain in this world -- if you give money to a nonprofit organization, they will find ways to spend it.

Why hell yes, why shouldn't he. . . . . . He has gone around congress so many times and NOBODY . . . . . NOBODY has done one single thing about it.
What is one more. . . . .
As Hitlery would say: "What difference at this point does it make?"

Does this mean that all credits, degrees, etc. that were paid for with these tax payer funded loans will be revoked? After all, why should they have the credits if they aren’t going to have to pay for them?

From a related thread ...

The key question about Obama's proposed student loan spending program is the following. Where is Obama getting the funds for this education-related project?

To address that question, first note that the Founding States had delegated the power to appropriate the funds for Congress to perform its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited duties solely to the House of Representatives. This is evidenced by the Constitution's Clause 1 of Section 7 of Article I. The problem concening Obama's education program is that, with the exception of the federal entities indicated in the Constitution's Clause 16 & 17 of Section 8 of Article I as examples, entities under the exclusive legislative control of Congress, the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend for intrastate schooling purposes.

In fact, Justice John Marshall had clarified that Congress is prohibited from laying taxes in the name of state power issues, essentially any issue which Congress cannot justify under its Constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

“Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

But regardless that the question as to where Obama must get the funding for any of his official actions has been answered (he must get it from Congress), the next question is where is Congress getting the funding to support Obama's student loan program since Congress doesn't have the constitutional authority to tax and spend in the name of intrastate schooling? And the answer to that question comes from visionary Thomas Jefferson, a promoter of education.

“The great mass of the articles on which impost is paid is foreign luxuries, purchased by those only who are rich enough to afford themselves the use of them. Their patriotism would certainly prefer its continuance and application to the great purposes of the public education, roads, rivers, canals, and such other objects of public improvement as it may be thought proper to add to the constitutional enumeration of federal powers [emphases added].” —Thomas Jefferson: 6th Annual Message, 1806.

Jefferson clearly indicated to amend the frigging Constitution to grant Congress the specific power to tax and spend for intrastate schooling purposes.

So what Obama and “sleeping” Congress must ultimately do to finance Obama's student load project is the following. Obama must inspire Congress to propose a student loan amendment to the Constitution to the states for ratification, just as he should have done for constitutionally indefensible Obamacare Democratcare. And if the states choose to ratify Obama's amendment then Congress will have the power to lay taxes to fund Obama's vote-winning student loan program and Obama will be a hero.

Turning the student loans into another vote buying slush fund for the rats - at the expense of all of us. The government gives out loans to pay the teachers to teach the kids to vote rat, and the kids then vote rat and the government pays off the loans. Isn’t there already a law against this sort of thing?

He must believe he’s going to lose the Senate and is going to do whatever he can before we have the clout to stop the little $rick.

“The Student Loan issue is a loser for Obama and the regular folks who did not go to college will hate him for forgiving student loans.”

I’m going to respectfully disagree with that opinion.

Why? Because lotsa homeowners were granted mortgage relief and this is just the same for a different, almost certainly non-homeowner class, eg; “it’s only fair”, and “it makes no sense”.

Everyone knows college costs are too high, that is inarguable, so this will have populist appeal. Remember, nobody gives a crap about any amount of money being spent on anything as long as they fail to grasp that the money ultimately comes from them. There is nothing principled about this thinking, it’s just whether they think it comes out of their pockets or it doesn’t, and they don’t think about these things anyway.

It also preserves the elitism structure that the folks who buy in adhere to and the folks who *don’t* buy in adhere to even if they are seemingly victimized by it. People who DON’T go to college, whether they know it or not or like it or not, EXPECT those who go to college to be smarter that they are and to have a generic right to tell the undereducated what to do and how to live their lives. And most of those people WANT others to tell them how to live their lives. Whether they will admit it or not.

Sad, and crass overgeneralization, but true, IMHO. I think just the opposite of your opinion, I think this is a big winner for 0bama. Responsibility is so...overrated.
