Bergdahl Release Reveals a Presidency Out of Control
Townhall.com ^ | June 9, 2014 | Chrystal Wright

As the news media cranked up the heat on the White House’s disastrous handling of the Veterans Affairs scandal, President Barack Obama decided it was time to change the subject and make the news about him again. So what does he do? Obama finalizes the release of five top Taliban commanders from Guantanamo in exchange for the Taliban’s release of one American soldier.

Not just any soldier but “a high value” soldier Sargent Bowe Bergdahl, who deserted his duty in 2009 when he walked off his base in Afghanistan right into the enemy hands of the Taliban. And Bergdahl caused the death of six of soldiers who joined other soldiers in a massive search for him.

Did Obama really think he was going to receive accolades for this noble act from anyone but Bergdahl’s parents or was it a deliberate move to further harm America and our credibility on the world stage? Many Americans were aghast not to mention both Democrat and Republican members of Congress because Obama broke the law with the exchange.

First, America isn’t supposed to negotiate with terrorist for the release of hostages. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel said the United States didn’t “directly” negotiate with the Taliban but had Qatar do it as its proxy. Whether direct or indirect the Obama administration negotiated for hostages. Second, Obama refused to notify Congress 30 days before releasing the five detainees from Guantanamo, as mandated by law.

Nevertheless, all week the news has been about the president and whether he thinks he’s above the law. Frankly, Obama doesn’t seem to care about our laws or what people at home or abroad think about him or his presidency. He appears to be determined to transform America from within and without into a weakened nation.

Prior to the release of Bergdahl, this president supported his Attorney General Eric Holder’s efforts to hold civilian trials for terrorists in New York City, a stone’s throw away from the World Trade Center. This is the same president who also refuses to use the mighty stick of American diplomacy abroad, which has made America look like a super punk rather than a super power.

Obama rented out our foreign policy to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, who brokered a flimsy chemical weapons ban with Syria’s President Bashar Assad. No wonder Putin invaded Ukraine. He knows America wasn’t going to stop him. And this is the same President of the United States who eased sanctions on Iran believing in earnest the mullahs will disarm their nuclear program. Of course this is like believing members of the Taliban, whom Obama released back into freedom, won’t plot against us, which is exactly what they've already vowed to do.

Even people in Afghanistan can’t understand why Obama would want to free “some of the most dangerous militants” within the Taliban, especially at a time when the US plans to withdraw most of its troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2014. To further emphasize the president’s empathy for terrorists, this week administration officials said the president will continue to pursue his pledge to close Guantanamo. Why all these bad moves?

Dinesh D’Souza writes in The Roots of Obama’s Rage that “While one might expect a president to be mostly concerned with protecting the American people from terrorist attack, Obama’s primary concern seems to be with protecting captured terrorists from the American people.”

From day one of his presidency, Obama viewed America as a nation in need of transformation, one too big for its britches, waging wars and shoving its principles onto the rest of the world. Obama considered America’s policies of freedom, liberty and decency “polices bad for America and bad for the world,” writes D’Souza.

After five years, there’s no doubt Obama’s policies are not serving the interest of America or her people. The release of Bergdhal highlights the failings of a presidency out of control and it’s high time Congress intervenes and does something about it.

One doesn’t have to be a “Nostradamus” to see where this Bergdahl affair is going.

1. Bergdahl will never be Court martialed for desertion. At this point, Obama has relieved every senior commander in the U.S. Army who dared to have an opinion other than his, and no officer who values his career would now dare to bring charges on Bergdahl.
2. Bergdalh will remain hospitalized until another “crisis” dominates the MSM news cycle, and then he will be declared 100% disabled due to PTSD as a result of his torture by the Taliban. At that point, Staff Sergeant Bergdahl will receive all his back pay and allowances, and due to his 100% PTSD disability, he will receive a Medical Retirement from the U.S. Army and live happily ever after on his tax free Staff Sergeant E-6 retirement pay.
3. We may see SSG Bergdahl again at some future Democrat fund raiser when he appears along with Jane Fonda in support of Hillary Clinton for President.

Don’t you just love a story with a happy ending? (sarcasm, off course)

Jan 20, 2017 cannot come quickly enough.

King Obama is America's dictator. He has been building up a civilian military task force using the police and many Federal agencies as his primary weapon machine. Look at how police are building up their military arsenal. We are so close to be taken over by the communists Democrats that 2017 may be too far off.

In case anyone missed the Wikileaks Bergdahl document that first reported him missing - here is the link:

AFG20090630n1790

It starts off with:

"At 0430Z, TF 1 Geronimo reported a B Co missing soldier after he did not show up for the 0900L morning roll call at Mest OP, grid 42SVB 59236 47877 Yahya Khail District, Paktika. A full search was ordered."

And includes:

"At 1012Z, LLVI receives traffic that an American Soldier with a camera is looking for someone who speaks English. "

Here is a snapshot of the Wikileaks page:

the way things are headed, I am not convinced that he will leave office. Should he decide not to leave, who will oppose him? The Courts, the Republican Party, the military, the people?

I really hope Obama tries something like that. I really do.

The new President will be sworn in, although perhaps not in a public ceremony. The chain of command will be handed over to the new President. Obama would no longer have any power, and be removed from the White House, one way or another.

But as a result, Obama's reputation would be destroyed, forever. History would always remember him as a wannabe dictator, who thought he could be "President for life".

People who were afraid of Obama for the past 6 years would start coming out of the woodwork, exposing every misdeed of his administration. There would be a mad scramble to disassociate themselves from Obama, to avoid being caught up in the wave of firings that would follow.

Obama's behavior would be a cautionary tale for generations, with people always making comparisons to him, when they oppose another candidate. The Democrats wouldn't recover for a decade.

There would be a brief crisis, but we would get through it. And, the US would be positioned for a better future.

One thing the democrats are good at, as all communist parties are, is their enforcement of “iron discipline” in regards to Party ideology and toeing the Party Line. It goes all the way back to Lenin in 1917. Even if it’s political suicide, democrats will not break ranks. Look at how they voted for 0bamacare.

No elected democrat will actually vote against an 0bama issue.

Those young men, and all the others who fell in that Godforsaken wasteland, died for nothing.

0bama is going to turn that country over to the very same people who ran it in 2001.

Somebody suggested the US Congress should apply the provisions of the RICO act to the actions of the Current Regime, treating the entire band as something like the Mafia crime syndicate. This would strip away the cover of “plausible deniability” that has protected them up to now.

Serious questions - is it possible to appoint a Special Prosecutor, to bypass the now badly corrupted Department of Justice, which is a major player in the Current Regime’s crime syndicate, and could we go directly to the courts with this prosecution?

The “lyin’ king’” is working hard, reversing EVERY good thing that America has ever had or done in her entire History, from the Founding Fathers to this very day.

There was great joy and dancing in my family when my brother was sent home in a metal box in 1968. But then he didn’t run away and turn on his men so it’s not the same.

The proper term for the Gitmo inmates is “subhumans.”

That is a good dream. But I have to live in the here and now, and I do not see anything to indicate that would happen.

If the citizens do not care enough to fight something that will adversely effect the lives of their children , their lives, and the lives of their grandchildren, [to wit] obamacare then everything after that is moot. And from what I have seen, most of the population does not care who occupies the White House as long as it is not a Republican. They only become concerned when their EBT cards bounce.

I’m sure the parents were overjoyed that their son would be released and would be coming home. Maybe their happiness clouded their decision when they allowed themselves to be used by a diabolical president, parading them around in the Rose Garden. Maybe the father didn’t have time to shave his beard but he damn sure didn’t have to speak the terrorists’ language and praise their god!

They know the truth. They should have shown better judgment in getting in the faces of America, even when encouraged to do so by her president.

Another thing Dems are good at: they play to win. To them, politics is bloodsport and they find ways and tactics to advance the ball downfield. The happless Pubbies just don’t get this; they don’t understand the ferocity with which their opponents play to win — at all costs.

I’m not suggesting that Pubbies adopt the Dems’ nasty tactics, but they need to emulate Patton who won because he was extremely aggressive and relentless. Define objectives, commit to them, and advance them without retreating.

Until they “get tough” Republicans will never gain the resepct that is essential to achieve significant political victories.

You are correct. The Republicans think they’re playing bridge at the country club. The democrats are out to exterminate them and the Republicans refuse to realize.

“Fundamentally transforming America” was always about turning us into the perpetual one-party Soviet style state.

I don’t think this was about Bergdahl at all. Five Taliban commanders in return for concessions so that 0bama looks like an international diplomatic genius when he negotiates U.S. withdrawal. It’s all about 0bama. Bergdahl was window dressing.

Well put. While the Pubbies are playing bridge as a game, the Dems are building real bridges to advance their causes and interests.

Republicans just don’t understand the significance of all those victories that result in new liberal beach heads for further assaults against freedom, capitialism and decency.

Obama made a big mistake by making it a Whitehouse Opera.

He's way too enamored with the Touchdown Dance...
