This can only lead to escalation. Since Miss America (rather than this Miss USA competition) has a talent competition, I suggest that Miss Texas's talent be marksmanship.
What ticks me off about the press, is they constantly constantly publicize criminals killing people with guns, but they almost never show the opposite end of the spectrum - People saving their lives using guns. I remember 10 years ago coming across a story that was like on page 89 of some paper I was reading, of a woman who was waiting for a bus late one night and this guy tried to drag her into this alley to rape her, I think he had a knife on him, and when he got on top of her guess what happened next? BANG! She blasted his brains out. One of the most awesome stories I ever read, absolutely beautiful example of the 2nd Amendment in action. And the thing is those kind of stories go on every single day, but you’ll never hear about them thank to The Communist propaganda machine posing as our fair and impartial media.

Of course she can't. But she doesn't need to do so.
People don't seem to understand that you don't have to beat your attacker to a bloody pulp. You just have to distract them or make them pause long enough for you to get away.
And since most attackers do not expect resistance even a small amount, especially if you know exactly which areas to attack, can give you those precious few moments.
She is not saying that you can AVOID rape, she is saying that you can reduce the chances of someone being successful at raping you.
No one sensible believe that if you learn self defense (or get trained in firearm use) that nothing bad will ever happen to you.
What she is talking about is crime mitigation strategies .... this could apply to any crime, not just rape.
My thoughts exactly, learn to use a firearm, and get proficient at it, that’s the way to protect one’s self.
fourth degree black belt isn’t worth much if you’re up against actual hand to hand combat trained person.
Finally, one martial art actually worth learning, albeit, it’s a stepping stone to other forms of actual hand to hand combat.
TKD will get you killed in a real unarmed fight.
TKD, Karate, and most main stream arts are good for discipline, good for physical conditioning etc. I would encourage those that want to actually be effective in hand to hand though, to pick an actual hand to hand combat course and learn it well.
