The Hollywood version of Teilhard de Chardin is "Father Telemond" as portrayed by Oskar Werner in The Shoes of the Fisherman, where a fictional Pope coming from behind the Iron Curtain sells off all the Catholic Church's assets to help fund famine relief for the Communist Chinese, without any acceptance of Christianity in China in return. In real history, of course, the Pope who came from behind the Iron Curtain was instrumental in removing the curtain and returning millions to the faith, and China has avoided famines by embracing some aspects of capitalism, all the while experiencing a mass conversion to Christianity. God's plan is always better :-)

If Paul was the founder of Christianity, Nietzsche two thousand years later was the father of neo paganism. However Nietzsche was a very misunderstood philosopher. He clearly did not accept the concept of the Hebrew or the Christian deity but he was not so foolish to deny that man deep within his brain evolved with a capacity for mysticism unlike any other creature on earth. That is why the neo pagans who quote Nietzsche find themselves engaging in pagan rituals and holidays. They celebrate earth day, winter solstice, comet sightings, worship the earth, commune with animals (eg PETA ),crystals, seances, drug induced meditations etc.

Great article, thanks for posting! This is the heart of the matter and why I am not very optimistic about America’s return to “normal”. It would have to start with a true return to the “faith once for all delivered to the saints” i.e., a real spiritual revival. Instead I fear we are headed for the 4 horsemen. “A new world order is what they seek, but in order that it can emerge, the still remaining remnants of America’s Christian-based culture must be completely destroyed.” This is our future. It doesn’t have to be but I just don’t see national repentance on the horizon. I see Christianity being criminalized. II Tim. 4:3-5, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” For those still believing, this is our call.
