It’s not ALL of Detroit. We never hear about bodies being found shot, burned and hacked up in the downtown areas. Now and then a body is pulled out of the water but that’s about it. The big problems are in the outskirts or older neighborhoods of the city and nearby suburbs. If I could afford it, I wouldn’t mind living in one of the upscale hi-rise communities in downtown Detroit. Not forever but maybe a year or two just for bragging rights.

I did see somewhere an expose of the stage-managing behind some of these urban decay safaris. I’ve been to downtown Detroit, and it didn’t seem any more worrisome than my own New York, though I did notice the same thing happens in New York as happened to the roads when entering the area meant to be maintained by Detroit.
