Historical revisionism can be useful, but frequently it is distorted to concoct new folklore by people with axes to grind. Millions of television viewers believed they learned something about the Korean War from M*A*S*H*.

More millions were misled about McCarthyism by George Clooney’s movie Good Night and Good Luck -- a fictional documentary of Edward R. Murrow‘s 1954 semi-fictional telecast about Senator Joseph McCarthy’s search for subversives in the U.S. government

But it is true that all Army nurses looked like Major "Hot Lips" Houlihan and were just as affectionate, even to guys that no other woman would notice. TV would not lie to us, would it?

Hated the show.

But Loretta Swit looks good in the T-shirt...

Good lungs.

The power of the press: MCCarthy was a drinker, hense he was a sot with anti American values overlooking the fact he was right about spies in the government. Clinton was a letch, hense he was a patriotic American forgetting his being a draft dodger and providing the Chicoms with invaluable missile technology.

Here is an interesting fact lost in history: RFK was the minority counsel to McCarthy’s subcommittee and RFK was so enamered with McCarthy to make him the godfather of his first child.

We lost the war in the 1950s over McCarthyism, we lost the war over Judge Bork, we won and then evidently subsequently lost the war over Justice Thomas, likewise we seem to have one and then subsequently lost the war in the first decade of the century over the Swiftboaters, we lost the war over the war in Vietnam, we lost the war over WMDs in Iraq, Valerie Plane etc., we lost the war over the cause of the great recession, and we are in danger of losing the alleged war on women as we have lost the war about homosexual marriage.

There seems to be a pattern here.

We usually look to the city rooms of national newspapers and television studios of media newscasts to identify the battleground where the wars were lost. I think the wars were lost in the faculty lounges of Harvard and Yale.

I hated it too. Was nothing but anti army propaganda and I did not watch it after that tone became clear. The only redeeming value is it promoted the notion the army doctors were dedicated to their mission.

My old man was a WWII Airborne combat vet.

He absolutely despised that program.

And in the news rooms of national newspapers and television studios of mainstream media newscasts. The MSM is HUGELY responsible for the destruction of the USA, not to mention the Hollywood of people like George Clooney, and the same Hollywood McCarthy was talking about.

If we’d have listened to McCarthy and rooted out the commies in our institutions (especially our courts & schools) we’d be much better off today.
