Reporters who showed up to cover the first signing of Hillary Clinton's book tour in Manhattan on Tuesday faced strict restrictions that led to what one veteran correspondent called a "media mutiny."
Barnes & Noble Corporate Communications Director Carolyn Brown addressed the assembled reporters and briefed them on the restrictions. Brown said Clinton would "hold the book and pose" before going "behind the desk" to sign copies.
"No questions: She's not taking any questions," Brown said. "She's not making remarks."
Many reporters griped about the situation. Print reporters were told they would be kept at least 20 feet away from Clinton.
"We've waited a really long time," one journalist said.
"Can we ask you why?" another asked.
Brown said the rules were "normal protocol for Barnes & Noble."
Politico reporter Maggie Haberman gave a blunt assessment of the situation on Twitter.
"Media mutiny about to ensue at Barnes and Noble," she wrote.

“No questions: She’s not taking any questions”...The old hag is trying to reinvent herself...She’s full of crap!
Yeah, media mutiny. Bwahahahahaha...
The DNC media will fall in line and then provide glowing reports of how wonderful Hillary really is. Pffft...
I really believe “America’s Sweetheart” is just as vulnerable in the D primaries to an attack from the left as she was in 2008.
. . . or not. They may decide Fauxahontas is more electable and hip. They are pretty confident that the idiot voter will buy whatever it is they want to sell.
Media mutiny... yeah, right.
Please pass the popcorn!
Watch her handlers protect her from any free-wheeling press conferences of any kind during her entire campaign. She will do only carefully-orchestrated TV interviews with the likes of Peter Pan and Wendy doing the questioning.
She will have to be "paced" by her Praetorian Guard as to the numbers of media encounters so she isn't a collapsed clumpy-lump of Play-Doh before she even announces her presidential intention "after the first of the year", as she promised yesterday.

How many books did they have to buy before they could get in ?
This is the same "listening tour" crap she pulled when she was [not] campaigning for Senator. She just wants the job by aclimation and does not want to have to sell herself or defend her dubious (at best) record. The Fifth Column media let her get away with it then. Will they again?
The media will definitely let her get away with it. They will complain a little then become her attack dogs on republicans.
aclimation -> acclamation
I was at the VA Hospital this morning. The TV in the waiting room was tuned to CNN which ran a 20 minute Hillary campaign ad disguised as a story about her new book signing in Manhattan.
If the MSM ever turn on the Clintons and Obama then there may be hope for the country. Maybe...
People are supposed to elect this old hag based on the narrative in her crappy book.
Oh, there are so many ways to make this old woman pay. She is a phony liar. Electing this hag would be an extension of Obama. I don’t know who lies more. Hillary or Obama.
She’s phoning it in.
Yep, Hillary is old and not healthy. She wants a coronation and to not have to work hard. So many of these people anymore do not want the rigors of debate.
I guess it “doesn’t really matter” when the election results are rigged.
they’re so mad, they won’t hold the door open for her the next time.. (only kidding)...
I’m glad to see Hillary is doing better.
Those were rough times back in 2001. Her and her family were dressed in stinking rags, and fighting hobos for the right to eat garbage and sleep under interstate overpasses.
After some can-do American spirit, and hard work, they climbed out of the hole the mean Republicans put them in, and are working hard for the little people.
Indeed, she is, but you wouldn't know it from the photograph on the cover of her book, "Hard Choices." I saw it today and she looks at least--rock bottom--20 years younger. A masterpiece of photoshopping, or something akin to it.
I am sure the media whores waited around to sniff her chair afterwards.
