Ukraine is believed to be considering shutting down its border with Russia in its eastern region as tensions between the two countries continue unabated.

"We have to take all the necessary measures. Of course we are going to close the border immediately. We are now preparing for such a move," Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the interior minister, told the Ukrainian TV Channel Five.

Ukrainian authorities have been alleging that pro-Russian separatists and extremists are constantly penetrating the bordering regions to enter Ukraine escalating the conflict. Russian officials have not yet confirmed the claims.

When asked if there were plans to plant land mines, the adviser to the newly-elected administration remained a bit hesitant but did not rule out the proposal.

"There are many other options other than using land mines, but they require both time and money, and we don't have much of either," said Gerashchenko.

Wait... WHAT??? haven't the libs told us for years now that planting land mines is a horrible, detestable war crime?

More reports of Soldiers refusing to fight for Kiev today, so this and the artillery/airstrikes may be all they have to go on, short of US/NATO intervention.

In Donetsk, Rebels raided the Topaz Electronics factory yesterday, and got a complete Mandat Electronic Warfare Jamming and surveillance mobile unit, along with 1 or 2 of the latest Anti-Air equipped AFV's, and several armored trucks.

They have also gotten at least 3 WW2 motorized heavy artillery pieces from the WW2 museum running.

Other news:

The Border post at the Russian town of Donetsk has been taken over by the rebels.

Around 2,000 National guard that were flown in to the Luhansk airport are surrounded, have had the water and electricity cut off, and are being mortared by the rebels.

Shooting broke out during negotiations for the surrender of the Tank Storage facility in Artemivsk, the local rebel commander was killed. There are 30+ T-72 MBT’s inside, all with reactive armor. Fighting is still being reported via twitter.

2,000 more refugees arrived in Crimea today, and about the same amount in Rostov.

Supposedly original engines.
There is video on youtube of the same group getting a WW2 SU-100 running and moving, that had been sitting on a outdoor concrete stand as a monument for 60+ years.

Even more impressive than that, the Donetsk bunch has gotten several of the 23 WW2 Soviet Amphibious APC’s they found abandoned in a warehouse running, and have moved them to the front.

The Rebels are now recruiting for the “Donetsk Tank Corps”, and for an Air Force.

I wonder what they found to use for an “Air Force”?
