Don't sweat Lindsey Graham-- oust Lamar Alexander, work now to bring Grahamnesty down

Posted on 06/11/2014 2:14:31 PM PDT by Javeth

Just a pep talk in the wake of all our anger at the crooked pro-amnesty and H1b RINO Lindsey Graham winning the SC primary, even amid the jubilation at David Brat's win-- I was in South Carolina myself recently and Lindsey Graham really has suffered tremendously for his support of that disgusting immigration reform bill as a Gang of 8 member. But it didn't surprise me that he was able to hang on, due to simple circumstances he was going to be all but impossible to unseat in this go-around, and in fact the lessons from 2014 will guide us on how to unseat him in 2020 and, just as important, unseat other pro-amnesty RINO traitors from Red States (or Purple states) like Lamar Alexander of Tennessee (still in this 2014 cycle) and other traitors in 2016 and 2018. Here's the list:

2016: Marco Rubio (FL), John McCain (AZ), Kelly Ayotte (NH), Mark Kirk (IL), Lisa Murkowski (AK), John Hoeven (ND)

2018: Orrin Hatch (UT), Bob Corker (TN), Jeff Flake (AZ), Dean Heller (NV), Roger Wicker (MS)

The reasons that Graham was able to hold on were simple:

-- Timing. Graham was simply lucky that he had his primary on the same day as the political earthquake of David Brat's win in Virginia, showing that the American people do not want amnesty, do not want the H1b visa and do not want Constitution-shedding traitors in the Republican establishment. So Graham held on before the mass mobilization of conservatives happening right before our eyes. Lamar Alexander, of course, isn't so lucky, so we can bring him down with the mobilization now in full force.

-- Not enough time to find and rally around a single strong opponent against him. Linda Graham's treachery on the immigration reform bill was suspected but didn't become fully apparent until the spring of 2013, basically a year ago. While this incited rage and opposition against him, that one year simply wasn't enough time to do all the difficult steps necessary to oust a well-entrenched Establishment pro-amnesty RINO like Graham (at least in the absence of a momentum-shifter like Brat's win.) Obviously, by 2020, that won't be an issue.

-- His opponents simply didn't attack him much, too genteel and polite. I was a bit surprised to see this especially from Lee Bright, but I suspect it simply might have been that the knew he didn't have enough firepower to bring Graham down yet. The key to taking down a traitor RINO like Graham is to attack early, often and hard, and to bring him down in 2020, we should start now.

-- Graham is in an open primary with a history of heavy crossover from Democrats, another important reason.

-- Graham did not even do well in his primary. As entrenched as he is, he could barely muster 59% of the vote against a divided field. This was even worse than other RINOs like McConnell and Cornyn (who, treacherous as they are, were able to hang on only because they did at least cast NO votes on the immigration reform bill). Graham has clearly stoked serious opposition in the party which we can capitalize on in 2020.

So this gives us a game plan to follow for the conservative wing to take down the Establishment crooks, funded by the pro-amnesty shills in the Chamber of Commerce.

-- First let's focus on bringing down Lamar Alexander in Tennessee in this primary cycle, like Graham a fellow supporter of amnesty and the H1b anti American visa in the immigration reform bill. This will help to capitalize on Brat's victory. Attack his record relentlessly and ruthlessly, no mercy. As for uber-RINO Susan Collins in Maine-- I couldn't care less whether she wins or loses, for now she seems to have a lock on the crooked GOP Establishment in that state but we should do everything to discourage her and let her know that her pro-amnesty shilling is unacceptable, and encourage her to simply resign from the Senate as other RINOs have done.

-- Prepare to take down the other pro-amnesty and H1b RINO traitors on that list in 2016 and 2018, especially McCain and Rubio (the two tratiors-in-chief), as well as Orrin Hatch, Jeff Flake, Bob Corker, Dean Heller, Kelly Ayotte and Mark Kirk. Especially if they're in Red States, there's no excuse for their betrayal, but Ayotte and Kirk have no excuse either-- the vast majority of voters in their purple states also opposed that America-hating immigration reform bill, so they too need to be take down. Their states will vote for a true conservative.

-- Prepare starting right now to take down Lindsey Graham in 2020-- assuming he even wins the general election in 2014 this year, which given all the anger and disillusionment he's caused among the GOP rank and file, I'm not even going to take as granted. It's too difficult to take him down if there are so many conservative Tea Party challengers fighting amongst themselves. Ted Cruz had success because, despite the crowded field, he himself had emerged as the most important standard-bearer for the conservative cause in Texas. We didn't have such a figure in South Carolina, and we need to unite behind one, and only one, conservative champion who will attract the funding and media attention to challenge Graham. I still think Lee Bright may be that person-- he simply didn't have the time or resources to organize a strong challenge and to unite conservatives behind him in 2014. But whoever the challenger to Grahamnesty and his treachery winds up being, that conservative must attack Graham and his record ruthlessly, without mercy or let-up. And in fact, they should start right now and continue the attacks daily to bleed out Graham's political viability through a 1,000 cuts. That's where we can help, by attacking Graham without hesitation. Don't worry about the Democratic threat in 2014, as much of a pro-amnesty RINO traitor as Graham is in a Red State, he does far more damage to us in South Carolina than any Democrat could. And whatever it takes to oust him, a true conservative Republican will easily win the South Carolina Senate seat in the 2020 election.

Hatch says he is retiring but there have been some news reports that he’s been considering reneging on that promise, as he’s crafting some statements to at least leave the door open. I don’t trust RINO’s like Orrin Hatch when they claim they’re planning to retire, if only since the attractions and corruptions of D.C. power are so great. If Hatch plans to retire, all the better, but we need to hold his feet to the fire and make sure he follows through on that promise, and whatever the case, we need to have a true conservative, an opponent of amnesty and the H1b and the other defining elements of the Dems’ Socialist agenda in the wings, to take that seat in Utah in 2018.

Mark Levin has said he has behind-the-scenes info that Hatch and Mitt Romney are maneuvering to get one of Romney’s sons to challenge Mike Lee in Utah in 2016.
If they do that, they will regret it until they die.

Wow, thanks for posting those numbers— looks like Graham’s RINO-ing has an awful lot of Democratic enabling. Is this a structural issue with South Carolina’s primary and general electoral system? I don’t think I’ve heard of this sort of thing in other states.

I don’t know a thing about any of them except that Alexander has been there
for a long time. With seven challengers I have no idea what that will do to his chances
of winning the primary. It’s an open primary state but then the democrats have several
races going on also. And I don’t if it’s a 50% plus one to win or some other criteria.

A lot of good and relevant ideas here, I agree the key is to have something of a “pre-primary” among the Tea Party and the overall conservative core of the GOP, so that we’ve settled on one conservative champion well before the primaries of 2020, 2018 and 2016. Not sure of the best mechanism for this, but the various straw polls and pre-primary debates can help us to settle on a single champion, which for example for the 2020 primary, might be someone like Lee Bright— but more or less decided earlier in 2019, so that he has the name recognition, media attention and resources to take down Lindsey Graham. Same for the 2018 and 2016 primaries to take down those pro-amnesty and H1b RINOS, we should have some means to settle on a single conservative champion by early in 2017 and 2015, respectively.

Good point also about Marco Rubio, he has been walking back somewhat but he’s lost a lot of trust from his membership in the Gang of Eight, and I’m not sure he can ever gain that back. The problem is he posed as a conservative initially and backstabbed the movement with the immigration reform bill, the single most important bill to show his conservative credentials (the one most important for allowing a conservative movement to be viable in the first place). If he wants to regain that trust, he’s going to have to do a lot more and specifically on immigration reform, for example to unequivocally kill such a bill if brought up again in 2015. And also to loudly and unfailingly speak up against other pro-amnesty and H1b RINO traitors even outside of that, for example right now denouncing John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Jeff Flake, Kelly Ayotte, Orrin Hatch, John Hoeven and other pro-amnesty traitors, publicly. Obviously this would be unpleasant for him as he’d be going against the RINO’s who duped him, but he has to show some backbone against those traitors to prove his own bona fides. In fact, he could get that ball rolling by doing something we can all easily agree on— denouncing the Democratic Gang of Eight anti American traitors especially Dick Durbin, Chuck Schumer and Robert Menendez. This alone would show some spine while also giving an introduction to turning his immigration reform criticism against the RINO’s as well.

We have a similar problem in Wisconsin: open primaries. But closed primaries are not a good solution either (requiring citizens to join a party and be a card-carrying member just to have a voice in the primary is not a good solution). The best solution is probably to do away with the "Packers vs Vikings" mentality, lump all candidates from all parties into one primary election and have the top two or three contenders vie for the office in the general election. That's not going to happen. So the only option we have left is to energize the base so as to turn out our conservative voters in overwhelming numbers. I thought there was a chance South Carolina would do just that. But, the total turn out was actually lower this cycle than last ... which is also very odd ...

The Dems and Graham himself helped bring about the six candidates. I’m going to vote against LG in the general.

Tex, You are correct. To run six conservative candidates against Lindsey and then expect one to defeat him was sheer folly. Hopefully the anti-Lindsey conservatives will spend then next six years, provided Lindsey is re-elected, uniting to find a single conservative to run against him.

Grahamnesty only received 56.4% of the vote, though he had more money than all the rest of the field several times over. None of his opponents received free publicity from outside groups or talk radio. None of his opponents were able to get their message out in an effective way and therefore none of them got any traction. And yet Linseed only received 56.4%. Linseed was very lucky this time around. And meanwhile, as Levin emphasized on his show tonight, Tim Scott, who was also running for a Senate seat in SC, received about 90% of the vote in his primary.

IOW, hold your nose and vote for Graham in Nov.

I hope SC voters will hold there noses and vote for Graham in November. Lee Bright was a wonderful candidate but with our crazy open primary Graham was able to get enough Dems to cross over and carry him over the finish line. He isn’t perfect but he is in the right caucus. I spoke with Mrs. Bright this evening and thanked her for the try they made.

Too bad South Carolina has so many moderate Republicans in the midlands and coastal regions. If it had just been the Upstate region, he would be facing a runoff.

Selected Counties/Percent voting for Graham

Greenville 41.1
Spartanburg 43.44
Union 48.04
Laurens 47.44
Pickens 54.51
Oconee (Graham’s home) 69.04
Charleston 63.65
Richland (Columbia) 63.40
Horry (Myrtle Beach) 67.21

Yeah, I swore I wouldn’t vote for that rino Romney, but I did.

Sadly millions of repubs thought exactly like you and didn’t vote for him. I suspect a lot of them because he is ..gasp....a Mormon.

Now look at the mess this idiot Zer0 has the Country in.
We have wasted 10+ years and thousands of soldier’s lives in the Middle East as the Taliban, et al, retake Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank You Barak.
The economy is in shambles. The employment books are cooked along with the Growth, GNP, inflation, etc.
Thank You Barak.
Romney could have gotten the economy turned around, but no, ideologues stopped that.

I dislike Graham, McCain, Alexander, Hatch and a bunch of other rinos but in the big picture filling up that side of the aisle is extremely important.
And Judge appointments, don’t forget the importance of that!!!

If you want 6 more years of Harry Reid rule, Out and out Communists appointed to government positions then keep that line of thought.

I don’t vote for liberals period.Did you ever think that they ran Romney(A LIBERAL)to lose? I did and still do. When he gave a speech he would rush right through it. The fix was in pure and simple. I don’t see a big difference between the leadership of either party. They are just way too cozy with each other. Do you notice that the gop establishment fights tooth and nail against tea party people and folds, against demorats, like a cheap suit?I believe the current mess this country is in is by design.

Well, as Reagan said in his 75 speech, you should go your own way. Because I and a growing number of us by the day, are not voting RINO. Ever.

But just remember that every prediction we made has come true. The GOP surged left, they run ever leftward candidates and are now indistinguishable from the average Democrat.

So if you continue to side with America’s GOP/Dem disaster against what the rest of us know to be the correct path, do not be shocked when you are opposed in every way. And to save you some typing, we do not give a damn what you think about it, us or anything else. You chose the wrong way to go and in doing, became the problem.
