It's interesting that Ted Cruz was born a tri-Citizen. People need to realize that Mr. Cruz obtained his Cuban citizen from his father who had not yet naturalized at the time Ted was born. That is a fact. It is being reported that he officially renounced his Canadian Citizenship today but what about his Cuban Citizenship inherited from his father Rafael? Why is this being ignored by the media as well as his supporters? Don't get me wrong, I like Ted Cruz but this issue needs to be addressed.

Article 2 Section 1 specifically calls for a ‘natural born Citizen’ to be president, not a Citizen. See John Jay’s letter to George Washington when framing the presidential clause.

Had Obama been born a year later, it wouldn’t have mattered whether that birth took place in Hawaii, Kenya, Indonesia, or anywhere else. (For those born since 1986, by the way, the single citizen parent must have only resided here for five years, at least two of which must be after the age of 14.)
In short, it may be politically advantageous for Ted Cruz to renounce his Canadian citizenship before making a run at the White House, but his eligibility for that office shouldn’t be in doubt. As Tribe and Olson said about McCain — and could’ve said about Obama, or the Mexico-born George Romney, or the Arizona-territory-born Barry Goldwater — Cruz “is certainly not the hypothetical ‘foreigner’ who John Jay and George Washington were concerned might usurp the role of Commander in Chief.””
I looked it up. George Romney was born in Mexico.
Since the question you were looking up was whether his parents and he were American citizens, you still seem confused.

Since Ted Cruz never participated in a naturalization ceremony to become a citizen, ipso facto he is a natural born citizen. There is only two categories of citizens, natural born and naturalized. Since Ted Cruz was never naturalized,and his mother was an American citizen, he is a natural born citizen, since there is no third category, period. Since the same people who wrote and ratified the Constitution also defined what a citizen is in 1790, either natural born or naturalized.
