On Larry King Live last night, Vice President Joe Biden said Iraq "could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You're going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You're going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government."
The vice president said hed been to Iraq 17 times and visits the country every three months or so. "I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society" he said. "It's impressed me. I've been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences."
At the briefing today, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was asked about Biden calling Iraq one of the great potential achievements of the Obama administration given that Biden had previously advocated that the country should be divided into thirds and split among Kurds, Shiites, and Sunnis, and then-Sen. Obama opposing the surge of US troops that many experts argue helped bring stability that allowed the reconciliation process to continue.
In fact, in January 2007 then-Sen. Obama said that he was "not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence. In fact, I think it will do the reverse."

As usual, this spot on commentary from our wise VP has put today’s news into proper perspective.
This utter fool should really check himself into a mental facility. He is obviously in the early stages of Althiemers or he is just plain crazy. Truly frightening he is only a heartbeat away from the presidency.
Surprised Biden could get his foot out of his mouth long enough to put it back in.
Wonder if Biden has a clue that it is Saudi Arabia that is funding this “Islamic” offensive. The Saudis hope to establish an Arabic speaking Sunni confederation composing of large parts of Syria and Iraq to oppose Iran. Post bin Laden al Queda is a Saudi financed international Sunni fighting force.
What a horrible waste of hundreds of billions of dollars, but worst of all, 4500 of our military personnel, and thousands more so severely injured that they will never be the same.
After 9/11, we should have bombed the hell out of half of Saudi Arabia as our answer, and warned them that the next time their Wahabi jihadis messed with us, we would destroy the rest. Peace through strength.
I was there for 13 months flying missions as a UH60 pilot. Almost bought the farm a few times. Worst year of my life. All for nothing.
Obama admin entire middle east policy have been a disaster. Afghan, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Lybia
JB is the reason I do not support impeachment for Obama.
From the frying pan into the fire....
“I’ve been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences.”
Too bad they forgot to pick up their guns and fight for the freedom that was given to them on a silver platter by the USA and the deaths of over 4000 of our bravest!!!!!
They are about to find themselves in a far worse situation than under the tyranny of Saddam Hussein.
Joe was really spot on with that prediction , eh? LOL
