Five Taliban leaders released by the United States have told visitors that they are likely to seek to remain in Qatar beyond an agreed one-year travel ban, sources who have spoken to the visitors told Reuters.

Diplomats and Qatari sources say the men are in a "safe location" within a guarded compound in Doha.

They have been allowed to receive guests from the Afghan community in Qatar, including Taliban members who were previously living in Doha, the sources said.

"So far they haven't asked for political asylum, but it's just too early to tell and, besides, not many countries would accept them even after the travel ban ends," said an Afghan source familiar with the matter.

You’re kidding me! They aren’t still in Qatar are they? Of course, if no one sees them except Taliban friends, it must be true.

Wow — a travel ban. I bet they are sweating that!

The incompetence and naivete of this administration is terrifying.

Hey. The livin’ is easy. They have internet and cell phone access, satellite TV full time servants and really neat beaches and pools. What’s not to like? Why go back to the barrens in Afghanistan? BTW any guess as to who is actually footing the bill for that summer camp experience??

Given what most of them did in Afghanistan prior to the US invasion, my guess is that they want to be in a “safe” place away from the Pushtan tribal law of revenge!

That was my first thought, too. I bet they spent a couple of nights there for R&R and then took off immediately for other destinations.

And then again they may not.
Bottom line is they will do whatever is in the best interests of fundamental Islam in working against us Infidels. - Tom

Oh Pleez....The USA established a Taliban Office in Qatar. I’m sure the 5 released rotten muzzies will do lunch everyday. It’s a monstrous place....kinda like what Obama had in Pakistan.

Since 2013 Qatar has had an official Taliban headquarters fully equipped and manned for Taliban operations and paid for by the US taxpayer.

It appears the Guantanamo five do not need to return to Afghanistan or Pakistan to get back into the terrorist business, Obama/Clinton fixed so they could do it in Qatar living the life of the rich and famous. Why go home when you can do more nefarious deals from our beautiful Taliban office building than from a cave.
