"First a string of rape stories, now a wave of similar stories alleged to end from the branch of a tree: A 19-year-old woman has been found hanging in a northern Indian village, and her family says she had been raped. The BBC calls it the fourth such crime in roughly two weeks in Uttar Pradesh state. The alleged attack comes only a day after another woman, 44, was found hanged from a tree elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh, with her family claiming she was gang-raped after being on the receiving end of threats for selling liquor. A post-mortem exam was inconclusive. The crimes follow the highly publicized gang-rape and hangings of two young girls last month; NPR reported the teens' own scarves were used as their nooses."

What was that propaganda meme from the Washington government for years? “Diversity is our strength” or some such?
Being hanged from a tree should be a pretty good indicator, but I wouldn’t want to insult the professionals here.

Either it is “Diversity is our strength” or “All cultures are equal.”
I favor letting boys be boys, and letting rapists be dead.
What is the status of that investigation??? The last I saw they were trying to blame this on the family of the girls.
The only thing I can find is that one man is being held and three police officers were suspended for not investigating it when it was reported. The girls were of a “lower caste” but there was enough publicity on this that officials couldn’t just shrug it off and blame it on the families.

The murdered girls were “untouchables” the lowest caste, and the accused killers were a “backward” caste, Other Backward Castes being the official Indian term.
