In Washington D.C., low-wage protesters arent settling for half-measures.
On Thursday, Labor Secretary Thomas Perez unveiled a proposed rule to lift the wage floor to $10.10 per hour, potentially hiking the pay of up to 200,000 employees of federal contractors. Yet the step forward has not satisfied the workers organization Good Jobs Nation, which is now demanding the right to collectively bargain with their employers.
Im grateful to the President for raising my wage to $10 an hour, but its not enough to care for my son, says Rodelma Acosta, a McDonalds worker at the Pentagon, in a statement from the group. As a single mom, I still have to rely on food stamps and Medicaid because theres nothing left after paying the rent. Most of my coworkers are like me were single moms and barely making it. We need more than the minimum wage, we need a union to win the living wages and benefits necessary to take care of our families and give our kids a chance to succeed in the world

Well, Sweetheart. There’s your problem right there! Why do Taxpayers have to pay for YOUR stupid Life Choices?
*Rolleyes*
Exactly.
Keep your legs closed if you’re single. THAT is the cause of most poverty.
Hear, Hear.......you cold hearted meanie.
I’ve made some less than wise life choices (fortunately few), and as far as I can tell, I’m the only one paying for them.
At least I can say that we taught the offspring to avoid our mistakes.
Does anyone know how much a Big Mac costs at the Pentagon Mickey D’s.
“Make it $200 per hour.”

Piffle, that won’t do much more than fill up the fuel tank on a new F-150. Anyway you have to specify how many hours a person is expected to work to do any good. Since we have this magic wand called the minimum wage raise it to $10,000. an hour and make one hour a week full time employment with medical and other benefits. Think of how the economy will boom when burger flippers only work one hour and spend the rest of the week on their yachts! I simply cannot understand why those who are intelligent enough to recognize the brilliance of the minimum wage requirement want to be so stingy with it. Of course some will say that ten thousand dollars an hour is too high but what the hey, some people think $7.25 is too high. Maybe I should have said a million dollars an hour, yeah, that’s the ticket. Gotta go now, it’s time for my meds.
You shouldn’t be a single bearer of bastards.
If you weren’t single, life might be a lot better
