A Fresno County judge has issued a tentative ruling denying a motion that would have prevented the county from ending health services to about 5,000 undocumented immigrants.
A hearing is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday to hear arguments on the motion filed by Western Center on Law & Poverty and California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation on behalf of Clinica Sierra Vista, which operates health clinics in Fresno and Bakersfield.
Judge Donald S. Black ruled in April that the county does not have to follow a 30-year-old court order requiring it to pay for medical services for undocumented immigrants, but the judge stayed his decision for 60 days.
Mona Tawatoa, a lawyer for the noprofit Western Center on Law & Poverty, confirmed the judge had issued a tentative ruling against Clinica's motion, but said: "We're going to appear at the hearing and present our case and see what happens.

Is this the dreaded triple-negative??? My head hurts just thinking about this ...
A little confusing. So as of now, the counties do NOT have to pay for the medical services for the illegals?
I think my blood pressure just went up again. Grrrrr
The opening sentence is a bit convoluted, but means that the County of Fresno can now go ahead with its original plan to deny health services to illegals, which of course is a good thing.
It’s confusing, but the judge ruled AGAINST paying for health care for illegal aliens.
Once upon a time the voters passed a proposition numbered 187. It would have ended most services to people here illegally.
It was overturned and then the governor decided to not appeal it. Since then Cal has had deficit spending led by billions a year for services to illegals.
We need a new proposition and a governor and judge committed to the rule of law. But it’s too late and won’t happen. Can’t close Pandora’s box, in fact the lid is missing.
This is The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia... This will be overturned faster than a Liberal can snort a line.
It isn’t a good thing, because illegal aliens will go to emergency rooms, where they must be treated. At a much greater expense.
California has got to find ways to treat illegal aliens with no health insurance and no money in settings other than the emergency room, or they’re all going to close. We’ve already lost dozens and dozens to bankruptcy in the last twenty years.
I think all states should pay a federal tax to finance illegal immigrant health care. Or California should have sufficient federal income taxes returned to state coffers to finance this growing population.
I think they could all save money by deporting illegal aliens.
“I think all states should pay a federal tax to finance illegal immigrant health care.”
I think your out of your mind...
I think they ought to be shot attempting to sneak in and demand I must pay for all their stuff once they arrive.
“I think all states should pay a federal tax to finance illegal immigrant health care.”
Blow me.
The only medical care provided to illegals should that which is required to transport them back to their country of citizenship.

Why should California be bankrupted paying for medical care for illegal aliens when they’re the entire country’s problem?
“Why should California be bankrupted paying for medical care for illegal aliens when theyre the entire countrys problem?”
If my memory serves me right, California has become a sanctuary state... Why should the red states pay for your stupidity?
Sanctuary cities are meaningless symbolism. The Federal government (YOUR government) is one hundred percent responsible for deporting aliens. And you won’t. And California is not allowed to.
The other 49 states also decided we wouldn’t have a border. Okay, that’s the way you want it. But the illegal aliens come here — not YOUR state. There is pretty good evidence there are 20 million illegal aliens here, and that’s not on California — it’s on America.
So tell me again how the failure of the United States to uphold the deal everyone signed in 1787 is on California?
You all abandoned our state to invasion and annexation. You should have to pay your share of tribute to the conquerors.
“So tell me again how the failure of the United States to uphold the deal everyone signed in 1787 is on California?”
Your state voted for Obama... Mine didn’t.
