Iraq: Barack Obama’s self-regarding goodness is bad news for the rest of us

Europeans...felt what it said on the poster – “Hope”. But in the Muslim world, the people who were bitterly anti-American for reasons way beyond the invasion of Iraq were not converted or even appeased. Nor did anti-Western wolves like Vladimir Putin want to lie down with the new American lamb.

He made lots of speeches....each slightly less interesting than the last. He held out the hand of friendship.... and it began to hang a bit limp. America had no quarrel with Islam, he told audiences in Cairo and Istanbul, but this had no effect on those extreme Muslims who believe that Islam itself is, and always will be, a quarrel with the West.

... Out went the bust of Churchill from the Oval Office, and the Obama administration sent no high representative to Lady Thatcher’s funeral. Israel and Saudi Arabia, America’s most important allies in the Middle East, felt disrespected. ... In Iran.... President Obama did nothing to fertilise the shoots of the “green revolution”, and effectively let the Islamist regime develop its nuclear programme unmolested.

.... He withdrew from Iraq, leaving it without US troops and without proper intelligence.... By a paradox .... When he finally came round to the idea of doing something about Assad’s chemical weapons, he sought.... what one critic in the Congress called “legislative authority for a drive-by shooting”.

.... He does not grasp, apparently, that the Pax Americana, under whose protection we have lived since 1945, has existed because it has always been backed by the credible threat of force. Weakness is provocative to bad actors, and some of the world’s worst have now been provoked. This seems to have come as an almost complete surprise to the Obama White House. The Peace President is starting to leave a legacy of war.

“The Peace President is starting to leave a legacy of war.”

Barack Hussein Obama.

Did we really need more proof?

These are crucial times, in deed. Muslim enemies are on the march. Putin’s tanks are rolling in. Numerous domestic scandals that would sink any other president. This “president” is overwhelmed and all he can offer are investigations and studies. All, results of his policies.

Isn’t that just typical of America - give a difficult and unrewarding job to an oppressed black man!

I’ve decided to refer to him as TWMFAG or The world’s most famous amateur golfer rather than wasting the word president on him.

(I suppose FAG or “Famous Amateur Golfer” will do)

His wrist has always been limp.

Has he ever broken 100?

His golf scores have apparently disappeared into the same abyss as his college transcripts and Lois Lerner's e-mails.

I recall when the dufus was elected POTUS, Rush Limbaugh was excoriated because he said he hoped he fails on his policies . Well he has not failed. He has followed through on his promises, and we are suffering the consequences.

“Weakness is provocative to bad actors, and some of the world’s worst have now been provoked”

This is what Obama brought us — nobody is taking the US seriously any more.

I'm sure the American news media, if they monitor foreign news at all, are totally confused by the opinion expressed here except for one thing - the writing is critical of Obama and they disagree with it.

In another era I would have confidence that Americans in a relatively homogenous society would be repelled by the failures of this administration and correct matters at the next election.

But now, I'm afraid, we are no longer as cohesive and there are far too many here who came to simply pick America's bones and these types don't give a rip what happens to the US in the long run. They'll vote for Charles Manson if he promised to keep the gravy train running.
