Well, to quote Chris Matthews, “you got to get out there and take risks and sometimes you get killed. And that’s part of the business...”. So, Chris has Obama’s back, he says it’s no big deal if a few people get killed here and there, it’s just “business”. Sounds like the defenders of this Administration are getting their talking points from Michael Corleone.

Last night I read that out of 500 400 had been evacuated and they were coming back for the last 100.

I hope the President reads about this in the newspapers soon so he will be aware of it and do something about it.

good news—but what about the Iraqi people who helped them? I bet they will be missing their heads soon.

I’ve been trying to learn more about Sunni/Shiite, so your link caught my eye. So I went to read, and as I’ve learned from FR, always check out sources that are new to me.

After researching MintPress, I am now not sure about anything I might read from them. Here is a link from FAIR, dealing with MIntPress and Syrian chemical weapons use. Seems MPress’ version, which was heavily quoted in all the news reports I read and heard, was disavowed by the supposed reporter.

http://www.fair.org/blog/2013/09/01/which-syrian-chemical-attack-account-is-more-credible/
Originally thought I would write you privately, but thought, why not discuss it with all. As I said, I am still trying to figure out the Sunni/Shiite thing.

All I remember was from the Clinton years. The only good ones in Iraq were the Kurds.

These tribes are all nuts and it's the same problem in Afghanistan....little power houses.

I sent you a link to study the Jihad you wanted to know about, it is written by intellectual historians from a neutral perspective (non-religious).

Their historical accuracy helps us see the intensity of the conflict between Sunni and Shiite.

As for reporters who approve or disavow things, it makes you wonder are they Arab, Liberal, or Well known neutral...because only neutral reporting is necessary. Any religious, nationality, or country loyalty will be scewed in someone’s favor.

I guess in a warped sense this conflict is like the Hatfield and McCoys...sort of.

Let me give you a Christian link to see the Sunni-Shiite conflict from the Biblical viewpoint. Both accounts should correlate... If you understand the old Persian Empire. You can see what is happening today to fulfill this prophecy:
http://www.kjvbible.org/daniel.html

This is not going to be a short conflict, imho...look for Turkey, Pakistan, and other influences to be a part of this Iran-Iraq fight> Sunni-Shiite sorting out of old hatreds, if this is Daniel’s prophecy of end times.

WE think we can only take certain Republican approved links to prove a point, when in fact some of the less religious links (not liberal but historical facts) that stick with history and when compared with the Bible we see there is the picture of what prophecy we are witnessing. As long as they are not trying to fulfill a political agenda.

Frequent Wind. I remember it well. Democrats abandoning our allies in South Vietnam, AFTER Nixon promised them we would always have their back. One of the saddest chapters in the history of US foreign involvement. The exact same thing will happen in Iraq and Afganistan if another democrat replaces the fraud-in-chief.

Thanks for all the information. I know what you mean by the Hatfield and McCoys. And then with both sides starting with ‘S’, my mind gets addled. I start hearing that old Abbot and Costello ‘Who’s on First’ routine in my head. And this is no laughing matter.

I appreciate the time you’ve taken to identify and send me the different type of links. That’s just the way I like to approach learning. I am off for a while to read.

47 All I remember was from the Clinton years. The only good ones in Iraq were the Kurds. These tribes are all nuts and it's the same problem in Afghanistan....little power houses.

“… Tribe wars with tribe. The people of one valley fight with those of the next. To the quarrels of communities are added the combats of individuals. Khan assails khan, each supported by his retainers. Every tribesman has a blood feud against his neighbor. Every man’s hand is against the other, and all are against the stranger. …”
The Story of the Malakand Field Force: An Episode of Frontier War, by Winston Churchill, © 1898, p. 4

"… So before I was nine, I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; and the tribe against the world. And all of us against the infidel. …" The Haj, by Leon Uris, © 1984

I went to your link, and got curious about “mintpressnews”, so scrolled back up to the header there, and read the “about” link.

You might want to do the same, and check the muslim dress on one of the leaders of that organization, and then think about “taqiya”, or their belief that lying to further their goals is an honorable means to the desired end.

Because I am a twin cities resident now, I am distrustful of the accuracy of their “reporting”. There is a very strong and vocal muslim population here, with many Somalian immigrants.

Keith Ellison is the Fifth Congressional District of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives since taking office on January 4, 2007. The Fifth Congressional District is the most vibrant and ethnically diverse district in Minnesota with a rich history and traditions.

The Fifth District includes the City of Minneapolis and the surrounding suburbs.

Keith Ellison is a muslim.

Liberals abound in the twin cities, and recently the female mayor decided to have “muslim” day at the capitol in St. Paul, and decked herself out in a hijab, etc.

So, I am concerned about mintpress’s political slant in articles such as the one you posted. I could be wrong, of course, for my prejudices could be influencing my suspicions.

Yes, for me the reading of the ‘about’ page, and some of the other artcles made me wonder about the slant. While reading the links from Kackikat, I realize I just don’t have problems with the S’s involved, but also the I’s- Sunni/Shiite/Iraq/Iran, and all the possible combinations, as it crosses borders, etc. And then when I add in all the ancient names, and trying to translate, I get dizzy.

I think I need a flow chart. I used to have the same problem with tornado ‘watches’ and “warnings”, until I used the trick of saying the word with ‘R’ in it means ‘Run!’

I am continuing to work on it. Thanks to you both.

ROFL...it’s a challenge for all of us, so I have to break it down to something I can rememmber like the Hatfields and MCCoys although it’s a lot more complicated over there.

The challenge is it’s a Religious WAR that has nothing to do with right and wrong, it’s just plain evil.

That was why I posted two other links, one from educational history sources non religious, and another one that is based on KJV Bible and the Book of Daniel Prophecies....which examines the Arab Persian War, and the former Persian Empire.

The accounts should all correlate to give an overall picture of the truth about how this Sunni-Shiite war of hatred began and is still defining the Middle East.
