Multiple videos have been posted online showing what uploaders described as hockey fans destroying a Los Angeles Police Department drone outside the Staples Center Friday night after the LA Kings won the NHL's Stanley Cup. Riot police were called in to break up what the LA Times described as a "melee" outside the arena following the King's victory over the New York Rangers.

In one clip posted online, a drone can be seen hovering over the crowd of hockey fans before it was knocked out of the sky by people throwing shoes and clothing:

LOL! Yep, the 'full military honors' bit the cops do because they are wanna be 'serving their country' types with flags folded into triangles, causing gridlock for miles with their freshly waxed squad cars, belt buckles and shoes and salutes... The full militarization of our police departments continues..

Makes me sick that police departments insult our troops by pretending to be fighting for our freedom when in fact THEY ARE ENCROACHING ON INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM.

The whole crowd was throwing stuff at it. Operator error, or failure to make sensible use of city owned property.

It served honorably and with distinction.

It got taken out didn’t it? That’s dumb, should have known better
than to try to intimidate people like that.
The drone jockey was an idiot.

Agree completely, and the law supports us.
The common law ad coleum doctrine says that homeowners own the airspace above the land itself, as well as the land and what lies beneath.
If a drone loiters over my property—that’s too much like the book 1984, and the drone must die.

the guy who shot it down will probably be charged with assault on a police officer.

"Years of research and development have gone into these highly effective 12 gauge shells that can turn even Joe Biden’s double barrel shotgun into an instant anti-aircraft platform. Specially formulated propellant is capable of launching 9 pellets of depleted uranium rounds up to 1 km straight up into the air. With accurate shot placement, this armor piercing buckshot will disable vital systems on modern military drones. At minimum, the force of impact will disable navigation systems, but in over 60% of our field tests, the drones were incapable of remaining airborne after contact with our Anti-Drone Loads."

The “REMF’s” etal want the Military Drone Operators (sitting in an Air Conditioned Bunker in CO) to be awarded with the same Air Medals, Silver Stars, etc as actual pilots and ‘warriors’ in the field.

Using that line of reasoning, would you FIRE the Drone Operator and take the price of the drone out of his pay and charge him with Gross Negligence?

“So I am curious why do you think he is an idiot?”

My 2 cents.

1. He allowed the drown to get in range of hurling jackets ...

2. By flying low he incited the crowd to action and risked injury of civilians.
