Australians make a fuss about snow, because they hardly ever see it. The few mountain snow fields in southern Australia are really rather limited, a European would laugh at them. Some years, snow does not appear, but this year, the white stuff is here again. Incidentally, the disappearance of the Australian snow fields was predicted as a certainty, because of global warming. It still hasn't happened.

I thought there was snow skiing in Australia. I would assume that would take more than a few inches of snow, would it not? Or is this a different area from the ski slopes?

Yes, there is skiing, and apparently it is very good. And the alpine resorts are lovely, all year around.

But it is only available for a short time, mid-year. And sometimes they have to get the snow machines going, to extend the fields. The European mountains are different - deep snow all year round on the peaks.

I skied in Europe for 4 years. There are several ski areas open year round. We used to go skiing on the 4th of July.

There’s a difference between a change in the weather and a change in climate.

Snow is weather.

Duh.
