He is an incompetent token, but he knows he’d rather rally them to leftist BS like global warming rather than discuss their job prospects. The left has done a good job of running interference for the Kenyan Pirate by simply flooding the “news” with one leftist crisis after another; the core of the left hasn’t lost faith yet (though the shrinking middle has).
I work with average people who react to the most trivial BS in the news while ignoring their world collapsing around them; they can talk about our phony bridge-closing scandal here while ignoring the fact that they are working past their intended retirement age and are unable to sell their homes (which might allow them to retire). The financial and demographic disasters unfolding around them in our dying state are ignored while they are concerned about non-events in countries halfway around the world...
