Graham: Next 9/11 attack could come from Iraq, Syria
CBS News ^ | 15 Jun 14 | Rebecca Kaplan

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., warned that the next 9/11 attack could emanate from Iraq and Syria if the U.S. does not take steps to immediately halt the advance of the Islamic militants sweeping toward the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.

"We need air power immediately to stop the advance toward Baghdad," Graham said on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday, warning that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) - the jihadists who are an offshoot of al Qaeda - could control the entire northern half of the country and use it to march on Jordan and Lebanon while Iran moves in to control the south.

The South Carolina senator added that the director of national intelligence and the head of the FBI have both warned that ISIS, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, has promised to carry out the next 9/11 attacks.

"I think it's inevitable. The seeds of 9/11 are being planted all over Iraq and Syria. You don't have to believe me, this is what they're telling you they're gonna do. They're not hiding their agenda. They want an Islamic caliphate," Graham said. "They plan to drive us out of the Mideast by attacking us here at home."

President Obama said Friday that while the U.S. will not send combat troops back to Iraq, he has asked his national security team to "prepare a range of other options." He also added that any U.S. action will have to be accompanied by a "serious and sincere effort by Iraq's leaders to set aside sectarian differences."

Graham still has a stiffy for someone to attack Syria for him.

I thought Gayham was worried about a nuke attack on SC? And hey... aren’t these ISIS guys the ones he wanted to help!

This Americentric concern is premature.

first, Iraq and Syria are bygones. Assad is the one with the problem as he is now at war with all the Sunni and all the material they captured in Iraq.

Assad is now toast.

All this is process and will take a while. America is off the hook for a while

There was a thread posted this morning about a Syrian airstrike against ISIS in Iraq.

"In this interview, the liberal Bob Shieffer was clearly rattled by the ineptitude of the Obama administration and the absolute danger of this situation."

My belief is it is not "ineptitude". Obama and his Democrats want Iraq to fall! They want to destroy any military achievements of America because they HATE America! They want America to know and feel defeat. They want Americans to know that their friends and loved ones who fought in Iraq, and died in Iraq and sacrificed limbs, eyes, treasure and material in Iraq, did it all in vain.

And Obama and his Democrats want to rub it all America's face while Obama whiles away the time with his homosexual lovers on California. Obama and his Democrats want to drag America as low as they can.

“The next 9/11 could come from Detriot!”

Or Minneapolis, funding of course from Saudi Arabia regardless.

I don’t think there is going to be another 9/11. Why get the remaining patriots in the USA all riled up when so much of the West is tripping over itself to surrender to the forces of Islam?

Why fly planes into skyscrapers that you’re going to own before long?

I wouldn’t count Assad out. Sounds like Al Malaki has handed control of the Iraqi Military over to the Iranian Al Quds commander.

“Graham is nothing but a Democrat Collaborating Traitor, who lies about being a conservative at election time, while acting out as a moderate to liberal jackass the rest of the time. “

True, but I don’t hear anyone from the left saying what we already know. I may hate 99.9% of Graham’s positions, however if he is right about something I am not goin to cut off my nose to spite my face.

Pretty much what Col. David Hunt was saying yesterday on FOX. He says that Iraq is already a broken country and we're better off letting Iran and Syria handle the rough stuff.

Yeah, Linseed—let’s endanger more American service men, and spend billions more that we don’t have, protecting Iraq, but do nothing about the invasion of our own southern border.

Grahamnesty and his mentor, McCainiac, never met a foreign conflict they didn’t like. Constant foreign entanglements, no protection of our own land.

If you watch their propaganda video, ISIS is critical of Bahrain’s support of the West, but they have NOTHING to say about the Saudi’s and Qatari’s. They know where their bread is butter, but now they have substantial territory, $430 mil in booty from Iraqi banks and are in control of oil wells that could generate billions in years to come. So, how much sway will the Saudi’s and Qatari’s have on ISIS now?

If he really believed an attack was imminent, he’d be on the border lugging concrete blocks screaming for someone to come help.

Perhaps both parties will get serious in the future (if there is a future) and remember that the President is Commander in Chief.

Obama has no quick thinking analytical strategic skill, none whatsoever. JMHO

Quit using the language of the left to cover for your support of someone who is part of the GOP-E, and fully invested in Amnesty, and reaching across the aisle to help our enemies.

What nonsense. There was no support of Graham, merely a statement that he is correct on this issue. Your statement makes no sense.

Linseed can go pound sand into a rat-hole.
You recognize that Obama has sold us out, and he wants to talk to Iran about partnering ...
Anyone suggesting that we ally with the Iranians is insane.
