The average voter doesn’t want amnesty.
It’s not just a Republican issue. Democrats can vote in the Virginia Republican primary. And until the liberal legislators pass the Safe Driving Act to give illegal immigrants driver’s licenses, which will get them one step closer to voting, pro-amnesty politicians in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts should worry about being Cantorized.
While union leadership supports amnesty, the blue-collar workers don’t want competition for jobs at a lower wage. Moreover, lunch-pail workers don’t want to put in a hard day’s work to pay for more EBT. So who should be worried?

The immigration issue is bigger in VA and MA than it is in SC.
I have wondered how people in unions have missed the disconnect between them and Union Bosses over the past 20 years. Unions used to fight for pay and conditions i.e. what they called “workers rights” now they fight for every leftist cause whether it favors those who pay their wages or not!
They haven’t missed the disconnect. The Unions will black ball anyone who tries to leave the union and they’ll never get another job in their field again. It’s extortion. They can’t even flee to another state for a job. Many of them hate the leadership and their “causes.”
Wow - you still have closed shops? We outlawed them quite awhile back (Australia) - no one should have to join a Union to get a job!

If I recall, we got the Department of Education in a lame duck session after Republicans had lost control. If they’re voted out of office they still have that lame duck session where they fear nothing because the worst has already happened. Since it no longer takes months to get to Washington we should do away with the lame duck sessions and move the new representatives into office the next day.

Half and half. Half our states, the ones with inner cities that look like nukes took them out (starting with Detroit, and sweeping through the Midwest and Northeast) are closed shop. The workers there all have unions, yes, they have unions, but not jobs (in most cases). In the Southeast of the US, in particular, it’s open shop and the workers are not protected by unions. They are paid the same, have the same (or better) working conditions, and have jobs - but the poor workers don’t have unions. Virtually every major factory in the past 20 years has located in the US South, or at least in an open shop state.
We’ve made some progress to liberate closed-shop states. Indiana is now open, and I think Michigan is too. So they may finally see some jobs return.
Congrats on Australia - ironically you can get away with a lot more Socialism with open shop than closed shop, since you have real jobs that pay real taxes with open shop. If they unions have their way, we’ll have the worst of both. They are nothing but PURE EVIL.
Union influence has dropped off a lot here since the eighties - so much so that the Labor Party of Australia has decided to cut official ties with the Unions. I used to be a Union Rep in my younger days until I saw where it all was heading. You are wise to see that Socialism becomes more insidious when it is let run free! At least it is easier to identify Socialist activities when coming directly from a Union. At least here the amount of Union funds directed towards political parties is bound to have decreased!
Yea, open shop REALLY cuts down on union money here. Prior to a couple of Supreme Court decisions the ONLY sources of significant money in politics were unions and the media - both SOLID left-wing - and a number of IDIOT Republicans collaborated with that approach. That’s why the Dems go so crazy when other sources of money are allowed to participate. And it’s funny because much of that new money does go to Dems (maybe even half) - but it’s the thought of Republicans getting any outside money that angers them to no end, even if still a relatively small amount.
Yeah I have to laugh when I see some Dem Americans I know go apoplectic about the Koch brothers giving money to the GOP/Tea Party - it’s like the Koch Brothers rule the world LOL when so much more money would be coming from the rest of Hollywood!
