House Intel Chair Worried About Westerners in 'Jihadist Disneyland'
CNS News ^ | June 16 2014 | Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - The United States needs to be very worried about "Westerners who have come to jihadist Disneyland" in both Syria and Iraq, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), chairman of the House intelligence committee, told "Fox News Sunday."

"You have an al-Qaida army on the move. This isn't just Sunnis versus Shia...This is as dangerous as it gets. Why? We have thousands of Westerners and Americans in both eastern Syria and Iraq who have Western passports," Rogers said.

"[W]e know we have these Westerners who have come to jihadist Disneyland in eastern Syria that we can further radicalize, train and send back to Europe and send back to the United States."

Rogers said the "rising al-Qaeda army" is a problem that the U.S. will have to face: "And we're either going to face it in New York City or we're going to face it here" (in Iraq and Syria).

"These are not monkey-bar terrorists out in the desert somewhere, planning some very low-level attack. These are sophisticated command-and-control, seasoned combat veterans who understand the value of terrorism operations external to the region, meaning Europe and the United States. That is about as dangerous a recipe as you can put together."

“And we’re either going to face it in New York City or we’re going to face it here”

how much abuse did the Bush administration take for this same understanding of yet another rationale for opening a second WOT front in Iraq?

Fight them over there - or we’ll have to fight them here.

If they were ever worried about fighting them here they would have done something about the border a long time ago.

It is breathtaking to think of what a stupid, totally stupid government America has. We have done everything possible to allow these heathens to run rampant all over the world. We even have them in the WH.

The only thing they have not done is protect the American people. The American people are treated as garbage in their own country. I am sick of them, ALL of them.

We are not at all safe, we are compromised inside and out. We have no national security. Just a bunch of selfish power hungry morons at the helm. What a bungling bunch of fools.

Whole thing pisses me off to the max.

I saw photos of some of these butchers on a Twitter feed yesterday, and guess what...there were several blonds among them. I assume they were Chechens or Russians of some kind, but I suppose it’s possible that they were Northern European converts.

Yep. And bringing in and losing track of Muslim exchange students and other high-risk visitors, and...

Th US funded, armed and trained them in Syria, to dethrone a dictator Saudi Arabia doesn't like. Now that ISIS has stolen a very rich bank and a disloyal army the US trained, funded, and armed, ISIS doesn't need us anymore. So, you've got two groups the US funded, trained, and armed in a death-match with each other that only Iran can stop. There are US citizens learning from ISIS who can return to the US. Even CBS is saying it could get weird when the Kurds want to unite to form a nation that includes part of Turkey. And all of this in prime oil-producing country. Meanwhile, Kiev which must translate to "land of self-destructive leaders" won't pay its fuel bills, causing potentially another crisis the US created. African terrorists are still at it, and still no mention of the girls. Brazilians are really, really upset about the gov favoring world soccer over people. What a great time for China to get frisky about its land claims.

Just one question....what could possibly go RIGHT with this global mess?

All it takes is a different point of view. The unfolding events are actually good.

In the long run, the bad guy Iran is being contained. The powers in Turkey and the GCC are taking control. They are not going to let their business interests be destroyed by bad actors in Syria and Iran

There is a strong tendency here on Free Republic to completely overlook business and commercial interests. In my view, such interests prevail over religious fanatics. That fact was proven in Egypt

How do you steal a bank? Do they have the money piled up in stacks?

I just don't get it when thousands of people being slaughtered, civilization being annihilated and there being an increased global terror threat is described as "good".

The powers in GCC and Turkey taking control...business interests....

Weren't banking and oil/pipeline interests what led to "freedom fighters" being funded in Libya, Egypt, Syria and Kiev? And look at all of the "good" accomplished with that.

How do you "steal a bank"?

It's a phrase popularized by a popular TV show Leverage (lasted five years, now in rerun). ISIS didn't steal the bank itself, but they sure were efficient at knowing where that $400 million was as they blitzed the town.

so you force some clerk to move the money from people’s bank accounts to ISIS bnak accounts? Won’t there be a record showing an illegal transaction?

Haven't you been following the news? It's even been confirmed on mainstream US TV newscasts. That bank had $400 million of US dollars stored. ISIS somehow knew that and took the money. Besides that money, they're getting the oil profits from the part of Syria they control.

The analyst said that between those two resources, they're the richest terrorist group on earth and have over $900 million.

heyall no, I never watch the “news” which I consider to be liberal mutual admiration gobbledegook, I get my news off here, and from UK and Israeli sources as well as twitter

yes, I heard about the supposed 400M theft but wanted to know what that meant, so did they make some little teller put the money out of one account number and assign it to their account number or did they pile up tons of paper money in their trucks?

Rogers is probably right.

But Obama is batting ZERO in all aspects of leadership. Who believes he can wage a successful war against ANYBODY?

I see no point in a repeat of the last 13 years; the huge waste of American lives & treasure.

Iraq will never be “tamed”, nor will Afghanistan or any other muslim craphole. They simply don't have the moral fiber to sustain democracy & the rule of just law, & the US does not have the enormous amount of money & time nor the leadership necessary to change their morals.

Furthermore, the US has its own serious problems with lack of moral fiber, especially in the ruling class. Our bureaucracy is as capable of civilizing the Middle East as they are in building a quality health care system.

Let them kill each other. If the problem is so serious, let the rest of the world stand up & do something about it, instead of whining for the US to solve the problem (with crippling ROEs, of course). The ME is after all, in their back yard, not ours.

From what the news was saying, it was a bank heist. ISIS has the cash.

FWIW, sometimes the newscasts get marginally better in fast moving events. There's less censorship of what gets on the air.

I don't know what Rogers is so worried about.

After all, we are hiring enough baby sitters for the criminal gangs,... er, children who mysteriously showed up and somehow crossed our southern border and the millions of Religion Of Peace adherents brought in recently are becoming good American citizens, shopping at the malls and registering to vote.

What could go possibly wrong with an America lifting it's lamp beside the Golden Door and helping everybody...??

They took the paper money in trucks along with the gold bullion. It has been distributed to their war planning centers (ie - Mosques).
