I'll tell you what, dude. You go find your way over to the Middle East, arm yourself as well as you see fit, and stand up on behalf of our "allies" against some kind of so-called Caliphate. Then get back to me and let me know how that works out for you. In the meantime, just leave me alone and keep your hands out of my wallet.

I use the term "allies" loosely because the U.S. doesn't really have any allies over there in the Middle East. This country has no mutual defense treaty obligations with any of those countries, except in two very limited circumstances (and if you can tell me what they are, then you get an A+ in modern history).

P.S. Solzhenitsyn was a Russian nationalist first and foremost, and he'd probably vomit at the idea of using Russian military force around the globe in pursuit of some kind of delusional utopian ideals.

In other words, he'd almost certainly be on my side on this issue.

Well I was told they specifically warned ‘the Shia Persian Rulers of Iran to not interfere in Iraq and warned Arab states to stop doing nusiness with them or the shia mullahs will be see a real war coming at them’. That was said by ISIS back in 2007. I am trying to find a link online.

Get our people out, let them kill each other, if they become a direct threat to us or our interests, carpet-bomb them.

It’ll cost billions of lives either way, whether we act or not. The main difference would be if we act and act decisively (and in faith—who in the US leadership says that anymore?), which would result in the preservation of the peace. Calls for inaction, as the author of this article here insists on, will merely hasten the arrival of the conflict.

I'm not arguing with you. And, as I said, I think that the only option is for God to go "Old Testament" on the enemies of Israel.

But what you propose is not a "viable" option, in as much as there is no way that the population would support such a thing. And just going in and protecting the "poor, innocent Shiites" against those "nasty, horrible Sunnis" will just cost trillions of dollars and thousands of US lives while leaving Israel just as vulnerable as before.

I would say the same thing if you suggested turning the sand of Iraq into a sheet of obsidian. Better be willing to do that simultaneously to each and every Muslim country in the world, along with the suburbs of Paris, Mannheim, Londonistan, Newark NJ, and Dearborn MI (and others). Otherwise, it will be utterly ineffective.

The only option involving some sort of action that I could support would be to deploy hundreds of thousands of troops to Israel and to Jordan...in an effort to contain the savagery to Iraq and Syria (the Turks have a big enough Army to take care of themselves). But that would be if we had an actual Commander in Chief. We don't.

Here I agree with you. I am a supporter of Israel and the Jews, and burn with enmity against Islam.

However, the West has lost its will, and moreover the strength and fortitude to fight, and the capacity to get ruthless.

Someone up-thread said we should have nuked the Middle East days after 9/11, but you know as sure as dark clouds lead to rain, the media will be there with heart-rending video of suffering women and children, some with their hair and skin falling off, and exploring the cancers and deaths for years to come... The West couldn't take it. Yet that kind of brutality is the only way to stop these savages.

Right now, millions of Western churches, social groups and people are agreeing to boycott Israel over their so-called oppression of the Palestinians, and are trying to place the onus of South African Apartheid on them. Meanwhile, the Islamic countries delegations to the United Nations continuously call for a worldwide law making slander of their prophet illegal, as Western scholars see the merit in it, and the media joins both campaigns...

Can you see any hope at all?

Only in the Lord and His promises, but I do believe the United States and Western Europe, Australia, etc., in other words the West, are morally spent.

If we don’t, we’re staring World War III in the face.

Unlikely, since he was all for the West standing up as the champions of freedom and anti-imperialism.

I agree with the let them kill each other sentiment.

But, it only works in a vacuum and the ultimate problem is, will they be sufficiently weakened by such an activity or will the eventual victor be empowered and emboldened to aggressively wage war further out from their lands.

If we were to corral them, let anyone who wanted to go in, in, but nobody can leave, it might be an effective strategy.

I do like the conditions that he has placed, no islamic states, secular states only if you want our help. As he rightly points out if you help muslim group A, muslim group B is now your enemy. further complicating the issue is that even if muslim group A wins, they are ungrateful and will turn around and wage war against you infidels.

I don’t have an answer here besides killing them all, and destroying every vestige of islam.

The reason for that is described in Leviticus 26:18-19. Also Isaiah 3:1-4.

We certainly do not see Obama asking the nation to turn to God in fasting and prayer. Instead, he is calling for increasing the moves towards calling evil good and good evil.

All Muslim groups are the enemy and regard the USA as the “Great Satan”. Certainly the answer is not to help one side or the other, but ultimately inaction (versus taking the right action) is not the answer either.

Exactly.

Much as France and Britain lost their will after the horrors of WWI, which led to the Nazi’s and Hitler’s rise in Germany, which then guaranteed a much greater world war, where France itself was overrun, and Great Britain close to defeat...

Only Hitler’s overreach in the Soviet Union and the relatively unharmed American Colossus being literally drug into the war saved Britain, but in the end, she lost her Empire.

Yet who will be OUR savior? China? Perhaps, but the price will still be the end of the West.

world Muslim population 2.08 billion

world Christian population 2.04 billion

Not all, even a majority of Islam, are bad guys

but they are going to need to sell their oil

The author seems to believe that these Muslim thugs will have a hard time selling their oil. Given the right price, many nations will hook up the spicket for their oil.

Solzhenitsyn was all for the West standing up as champions of freedom and anti-imperialism when the West was facing atheistic communism as its biggest threat.

I can assure you that he'd never embrace the idea of a West that had already embraced atheistic communism as its governing ideal using military force to impose its own brand of radical secularism all over the globe.
