California Lawmakers Push Ammunition Registration, 'Ammunition Purchaser Permit'

California lawmakers are considering the creation of an ammunition registry that will require ammunition purchasers to go through a background check--including fingerprinting--and obtain an "ammunition purchaser permit" before getting ammo.

The registry is contained in Senate Bill 53, which passed in the California Assembly Public Safety Committee 5-2 on June 12.

According to the NRA-ILA: "If passed and enacted into law, SB 53 would require the collection and reporting of personal consumer information and thumbprinting for all ammunition purchases throughout the state. It would also ban online and mail-order sales of all ammunition, including hunting and collectible ammunition."

Additionally, SB 53 would require ammunition purchasers to "register with the Department of Justice" and "obtain a costly ammunition purchaser permit that must be renewed every two years."

Whoa, DC, nice little place you got there! Add a liquor license and they'll be lining up four deep.

I could always use a new source for ammo. Put me down for a couple of tons...

They’ll figure a “way” to restrict production and/or distribution of the components, as long as we still have 2A. So far, the wacko, leftist anti-2A crowd can’t take away our Right To Keep and Bear, but they are going after the hardware and ammo, as a ‘workaround’. The leftist activist courts have/ will probably uphold those actions by blue states’ legislatures/governors.

Liquor is sold out of the station wagon, as I don’t pay the ATeeFers “revenuers” tax on moonshine ;)

Just the refills/reloads; heh.

At first, I couldn’t tell if he was MS-13 or the SF-Chow Boy. “Shrimp Boy” gave me a clue.

“...California Highway Patrol is already known to cruise the parking lot and...”

Why would they do that?

This was on “Armstrong & Getty” podcast like in November. They stop people coming into Cali with things they bought at Cabela’s that are illegal in Cali.

So they can pull you over for some minor fictitious infraction (which is actually not lawful, at least in CA) and then gin up a search reason and find you are carting in some 30 round mags etc...

Anyone had experience with using aluminum case ammo?

There are reports of aluminum cases when fired, splitting in the chambers of firearms.
