Remember the Alamo!
THANKS.
That's for damn darn sure.
Reagan. He wasn't perfect, but he knew he was saved by grace, and not by works. Are you looking for perfection?
Well, Reagan - to my point - didn’t bang people over the head with his faith .which is the kind of people I was referring to .those who go and try and win Iowa caucus by preaching and hope to niche their way to the White House.
That was not Reagan. Reagan was Reagan all the time, period.
Reagan did wear his Christianity on his sleeve quite often. Reagan had speeches about God and the Bible quite a number of times. He did not "bang people over the head with his faith (as you put it)" as much as the Founding Fathers did; but he did not believe there was a separation of church and state as the SCOTUS did. In fact, he was quite animate about God and country. Are you one who believes there is a separation of church and state in the Constitution?
No, and reject and resent and have no respect for your self righteous phony pharisaical attitude. YOu didn’t understand my point. Reagan is no Huckabee, no Santorum, and in some ways no Bush about the “on the sleeve” thing and yet, he was probably more true to his faith than any of them.
But you wanted to misunderstand, and you did. Dude, I can explain it to you, but I cannot understand it for you. And to just h_ll with your accusations.
"But you wanted to misunderstand, and you did. Dude, I can explain it to you, but I cannot understand it for you. And to just h_ll with your accusations."
Dude, slow down; you are going to blow a blood vessel getting so huffy! I am not accusing you of anything. I am not quarreling with you. We are having a legitimate argument in a debate I hope you know the difference. Quite the contrary, Ive read your other posts and agree with you about Cruz being the top contender for conservatives. I think he is the top contender for Christian conservatives as well as he is very open about his faith, and knows the time and place to argue the point.
To back up my point in the argument of whether or not Reagan wore his religion on his sleeve (as you put it) more or less than Bush; just type in a search for Reagan Bible in any search engine and find out how many times in public Reagan not only talking about the importance of the Bible and God in everyday life but in politics and law as well! Type in Bush and Bible, not as much as Reagan, but it is there. Huckabee, you can do what you wish he isnt going anywhere politically and will not waste my time with him he is a mute point.
But our argument also seems to be whether or not the Bible and its principles have a place in politics correct? If so, then the question I asked is a legitimate one for the debate we are having. Therefore, I ask again this very pertinent question to the argument; Are you one who believes there is a separation of church and state in the Constitution?
I still resent the question, but I will answer it. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO ..there is no separation in the Constitution.
So to clarify: I think there is a good amount of phoniness and cynicism in the faith professions of W, Santorum, Huck, and some others who run as blatantly on their sleeve Christians. And if it’s not phoniness, then there is certainly some spiritual blind spots with these guys, and more to the point, those who will follow them simply due to the faith proclamations. I am tired of pro life liberals, so to speak - hiding behind faith. I am tired that so many, including many Freepers, continue to fall for it.
Oops, my mistake, you did answer the question. Frankly, I think the only disagreement in this debate we do have is whether or not there should be religion expressed in politics. I think (and many here at FR also) there should be, as it shows how true or not true, and the degree in charector and understanding a political figure is/has - especially for one that is running for as an important a position as President.
I guess I’m tired of folks like W, Huck, Santorum embarrassing the faith .Reagan never did. Seems like Cruz has a good perspective on it too. Ditto Palin.
although I do agree that some are fooled, most are not unlike how all liberals are fooled by their leaders. Ill give you an example: Bush. Even though Bush proclaimed his Christian faith, there were those here one of them me knew that though he had faith in the God of the bible, he did not know how to apply Biblical principles to politics/law. This was evident when he started to campaign in 1999 as the compassionate conservative. This was one of the first clues that Bush had quite a gap in wisdom and application of biblical principles and their application. There was quirte a lot of discussion about this point here at FR at the time.
On this we agree.
wait, what? Are Obamas daughters getting paid by taxpayers?
and on THAT, we also agree...
