UPDATE (7:30 a.m.)
CONDITIONS IN PILGER Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger said Tuesday morning that the five-year-old who died was a girl in a mobile home situated on Main Street. A traffic fatality 2.5 miles east of Pilger in Cuming County has not been linked to the storm.
75 percent of the community is gone, and thats my opinion, Unger said, including the middle school, Midwest Bank, a convenience store, post office, numerous houses, city hall, firehouse and St. Johns Lutheran church.

Prayers for those who are victims of this disaster. When my son was in high school, we frequently went to wrestling tournaments where Wisner-Pilger was also represented. The fabric of rural Midwest... Proud people. Once they get back on their feet, they will recover.
This is 3 weeks after a nasty hailstorm did a lot of damage to the east in Blair NE. Hailstones were the size of my son in laws hands.
My prayers go out to all victims of this horrific weather. I was raised in Kansas and seen my share of twisters, but never have I seen two monsters a mile apart.
Sometimes multiple “tails” form but most of the time, they retreat back into the clouds.
Also, the TV showed cars driving into the tornadoes. DUMB!
